5th Convocation: Kogi poly graduates 6,8 24 as 117 bags Distinctions.

The kogi state polytechnic, Lokoja is set to graduate 117 Distinctions and 6,707 others with various classes of Diploma certificates in the 5th Convocation ceremony holding on Saturday 7 February, 2023.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Salish Ogbo Usman disclosed this on Thursday during the Convocation press briefing in Lokoja.

Prof.Usman said the breakdown of the graduands show that 3, 892 got National Diploma in the 2023/ 2024 / 2024/ 2025 session while 2, 932 finished in the Higher National Diploma Level.
The Rector gave further details on the results ,revealing that for 2023/2024 Session, there were 24 Distinctions ,303 Upper Credit and 894 Lower Credit. 471 had Pass . Total figures for the Session for the National Diploma were 1692 for National Diploma
While for 2024/2025 Session, National Diploma, there were 27 Distinctions; 275 Upper Credit ; 1417 Lower Credit; 481 Pass. Total figures for the National Diploma for the Session were given as 2,200.

The Rector gave figures for the Higher National Diploma ( HND) for the 2023/2024 Session to include 29 Distinctions; 244 Upper Credit; 956 Lower Credit and 175 Pass. Total figures for the Higher National Diploma for the Session were 1,404.

According to the Rector, figures for the 2024/2025 Session for the Higher National Diploma were given as 37 Distinctions, 437 Upper Credit; 914 Lower Credit and 150 Pass while total figures for the Session for the Higher National Diploma were 1528, with a total of 117 Distinctions.

The Rector observed “It is noteworthy that we have healthy distribution of Distinctions, Upper Credit, Lower Credit and Pass grades across programmes. This underscores improved academic discipline, integrity in examinations and enhanced teaching and learning outcomes.

” In addition, the timely release of results and the impressive number of graduands are clear indicators that Kogi State Polytechnic has moved decisively away from an era of uncertainty to one of predictability , order and academic confidence. It affirms our commitment to ensuring that students graduate as at when due,without unnecessary delays, frustrations, or administrative bottlenecks.”

Reflecting on his administration since assuming office in 2020, the Professor of Political Science said the institution recorded tremendous achievements, including completion of several infrastructures to aid teaching learning; improved workers welfare and eradication of cultism and other anti social behaviours.
He added that on assumption of office in April 2020 ensured that core courses of polytechnic, such as Engineering and Environmental Technology secured accreditations from National Board for Technical Education NBTE
He admitted that his reforms though painful has repositioned the polytechnic making it a Polytechnic of first choice drawing students from 32 states of the country.
Ogbo who has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, noted that he is leaving the polytechnic better than he met.
He said, the reforms have revolutionalized academic content, infrastructures and drastic reduction in cultism, Examination malpractices and other social misdemeanors hitherto plaguing the institution .
He commended the former Governor of kogi state Alhaji Yahaya Bello for given him the opportunity to serve and the incumbent governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for extending his tenure that has made him to consolidate on his reforms agenda for the school.
In a sober laden Convocation speech , which is his last in the polytechnic, Ogbo praised principal officers, staff and students for their cooperation and understanding through out his tenure.
