Again Gunmen attack Bagana Communities in Kogi, Burn down houses , scores feared dead.
Barely a week that gunmen killed a middle young man in Bagana in Omala LGA of Kogi state, the town has once again came under a heavily coordinated attack that has burnt down houses , while scores of residents who were caught in the web were feared dead.
The recent attack , according to some villagers may not have been unconnected with the death of Daddy Noah , who was murdered last week by yet to be apprehended gunmen.
Our reporter gathered that the latest attack on Bagana occured on Tuesday, when stakeholders in the intractable crises were interfacing with the members of the AtaIgala, HRM Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa’s peace committee set up to resolve the lingering crises .
They lamented that , the recent attack had rendered most families homeless as most of the remaining houses which were spared during the previous attacks were razed down, while some of those who were cut in the gun duel could not be accounted for as at the time of filling this report.
Speaking to our reporter, a victim, Mallam Yabagi , popularly known as teacher, whose house was completely razed down condemned the latest attack which has rendered him homeless.
He said, the crises has brought the one time boisterous town to its kneels as scores have been killed while precious properties have been destroyed since the war broke out over a decade ago.
He called on the presidency, Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and Security Agencies to use legitimate actions to bring this senseless killings to a halt.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, said the incident was between two warring clans- Ihankpe and Otutubatu. He said although no life was lost, three houses were confirmed to have been burnt down.
He added that the Command is working in synergy with other sister security agencies to bring the situation under control.
