The unique presentation of the annual Ogidi day event is one with an esteem magnitude of scope in the context of historic measure in and out of Ijumu Kingdom.
This year’s historic event represents the 11th edition of the “people and culture acclaim” with unique global village interaction, recognition, socialization and perspectives of progressive forum with corporate participation of both at home and in diaspora.
Ogidi day celebration as usual, witnessed many memorable features in its glitz and glamorous showbiz. National Trust learnt that the hike in fuel price across the country affected this year’s event, as many were unable to grace the occasion. Yet, the event was not deterred as dignitaries from all walks of life throngs the venue. The event, which took place in the central area of the town, hosted many dignitaries, amongst are the royal fathers like the Olu-jumu of Ijumu land, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni JP; the Olu-Adde of Ekinrin-Adde land, Olu Bamigbaye Idowu Olajubu (CON); the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Awoniyi, among other royal fathers.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, Rector Kogi Polytechnic, who was also the Chairman of the occasion; Hon. Taofik Isa, the Executive Chairman Ijumu Local Government Area, was the chief host. Nike Okundaye, the yeye Oba of Ogidi and her entourage were present, other guests are Hon. Ismail Adesayo, SSA to Governor Yahaya Bello; Hon. Mayowa Idris; representative of the governorship Aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Ododo; the governorship aspirant of Action Alliance (AA), Olayinka Braimoh was there present with his entourage, among others dignitaries.
Added to the eye-lite of the occasion was the contribution of various cultural displays by students, the Ibira, Tiv, Bassa communities in the community, the various clubs and association. The Eyo masquerade, Agbo Masqurade, unions and the age grades system, all displayed their skills and talents in respective endeavors toward the success of the event.
Ologidi of Ogidi Kingdom, Oba Oladimeji Sule, however rode on the glorious occasion to install the Rector Kogi Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo with honourary chieftancy title of Otunba Olutaiyese of Ogidi Kingdom. While in his remarks, Dr. Ogbo thanked the royal father and the people of Ogidi community for recognizing and entrusting him with such a high position in the community, promised to be committed and place ogidi community interest first.
Meanwhile, the Ogidi Development Union President (ODU), Eniolorunda Ralph Kayode in his speech felicitate with the guests, highlight both low and high points and therefore reiterated commitments that will continued to be measurable and sustainable for growth and development of the community. Adding that their high point will always go into the anal of time in motivating and attracting more development, he said.
In his remark, a community leader and the Dorector-General, Ogidi day festival, Mr Tunde Ipinmisho appreciated God who has nade for all sons and daughters of Ogidi kingdom to be able to gather again to witness this year Ogidi day celebration. He appeal to the good people the community to also work together in the interest of the community.
