Ajaka: A man decided by providence, KYF
A group under the aegis of kogi Youth Frontier ( KYF) has said the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the just concluded gubernatorial election in kogi state, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka is being propelled by providence in order to bring the people living in the confluence out of the woods.
The chairman of the group Danjuma Ibrahim dropped this hint in Lokoja at the weekend during a press conference.
He said the travails of the SDP candidate since the struggle to enthrone good governance in the state has shown that the divine forces is involved in his struggle to rule the state .
Explaining, he said, despite the introduction of tricks, manoeuvrings and dastard acts into the electioneering process by the power that be ,the man always come out triumphantly.
He said as a man standing on the tripod of Providence, it was no surprise to many curious minds that he has been bedevilled with myriads of challenges orchestrated by Stakeholders of All Progressives Congress (APC) ruling party in the state, since the struggle to occupy kogi state government House begun.
” It was said that Ajaka did not tender his resignation letter within 30 days before joining another party. Ajaka’s deputy, Sam Abenemi didn’t resign or paraded fake certificates . Ajaka didn’t conduct primary election. Ajaka didn’t get the required educational qualification. In all he won”, he said .
When his detractors noticed that these paraded allegations did not hold water , they moved the state machinery after him , branding him a criminal and threatening his life in all dimensions , including preventing him from entering the state to tour round the 21 local governments of the state .
He added: “The expressed their displeasure by burning down his property , including his campaign office in Lokoja and Anyigba, and with many other places of his political interest suffering the same fate at the early stage of the struggle.
“Thereafter, they came up with fallacious lies that all SDP chairmen and zonal chairmen have dumped SDP for APC in a psychological warfare .
“Staunch supporters of the party and innocent souls were wasted , particularly in the kogi East in their gamut of their dastardly acts, yet Ajaka was not distracted from his course of ambition”.
Comrade Ibrahim said having failed their bid to stop him by these antics before election , they offloaded their heavy weights of tricks into the election and hijacked some INEC staff who fertilised ground for them to ring election in their favour.
“INEC itself owned up to this rigging , particularly in the central district of the state but failed to do the needful as provided by the electoral Act in such circumstances,as the organisation upheld the cooked up figures and went ahead to declare the result valid in favour of a candidate rival ruling party .
Undaunted, he added , Ajaka went to seek for redress in the court of law which granted him permission to access the Electoral materials used in the said election to crack his case of alleged foul play.
“Again, like locusts, they went all the whole hog, applying their tricks ,frustration and unleashing more of their arsenals to give a life to their cook up figures and to impede the inspecting exercise, with all forms of protests and demonstrations, involving all shades of humanity .
” In the process, they went out with full force to burn down INEC office.They attacked INEC State Resident commissioner.They attacked state tribunal secretary Umar Mike David . In all ,they failed.
“Now, having failed their bid in these attempts, they are saying Ajaka didn’t file his case at the state election tribunal within stipulated time, claiming to have enough evidence to that effect.
“Our esteemed law house was invaded, pulled into discrete and ridiculed as group of “lawyers” were recruited to join the fray to perpetrate their act in bizare manner”,he said .
However, Danjuma added further that the masterstroke decision of the court of Appeal moving the election tribunal to Abuja for further sitting ,citing insecurity situation for their reason has drew the ire of these stakeholders.
Kogi youth Frontier stressed that to square up with this decision, fathom groups , including, using rival political parties’ banners, posters and fez in a seemingly deceitful behaviour were introduced in the struggle to draw home their points to tend the minds of gullible society to favour their cause.
However, he said history has shown that people with providence always survive many hurdles on the pedestrian of their journey of destiny.
“Muritala Yakubu Ajaka is one of such persons in the society. The happenings around him since the struggle began showed that the SDP candidate has a date with destiny. He will survive it all”, he said .
However, he said :”Lest we forget, the out going governor of the state , Alhaji Yahaya Bello is one of such persons in the society, only that he misused his opportunity when his time was playing out .
“Governor Bello did not contest governorship election in 2015. Prince Abubakar Audu of the blessed memory was coasting home to victory when providence struck and transited him to eternity .
” But providence decided that position for Alhaji Yahaya Bello then. Despite all the legal hiccups, he found himself in the corridor of power for eight years. The same scenario is already playing out for Muritala Yakubu Ajaka by the characters of the unfolding events”, he said .
