Kogi Youth Group honours Engineer Sunday Baba with Best Performing Director in Kogi Award.

The Advocacy for Youth leadership in Governance , has on Thursday bestowed excellence award on Engineer Sunday Baba for his examplary leadership qualities in the line of his responsibilities in the state civil service
Engineer Baba, who is a Director, civil Engineering , Ministry of works, received the award at the Annual General Meeting , lecture and award presentation ceremony by the group in Lokoja, kogi state capital.
The President of the Group, Comrade Ajinomoh Abiodun noted that the choice of Engineer Baba for the award was reached after meticulous scrutiny of his public life, rising through the ranks unblemished to reach the position of Director in the state civil service .
Comrade Abiodun , extolled the leadership qualities of the recipient which he said, has been in the public domain over time and urged the coming generations to exhibit excellence through hard work and dedication to duty.
According to him, those recognised are properly screened based on their performances and the need to groom youths for leadership positions.
In a remark, the celebrator , Sunday Baba ,commended the organisers for finding him worthy to be selected from the pool of other qualified persons, saying , he will not abuse the confidence repose in him.
He advised the youths who are by any parameters are the leaders of tomorrow to imbibe the culture of hardwork, integrity rather than to involve in predatory and unwholesome behaviours.
He commended his kith and kin from his homestead, Odogomu in Ankpa Local Government Area of kogi state to remain committed to the development of the town.
He acknowledged the roles played by the community in moulding his upbringing that has made him tick in whatever circumstances he found himself.
He called on the compatriots to be committed to the growth and development of the area and to lend helping hands to the people of the area.
While advising them to be alive to their responsibility to the area and shun the attitude of tagging their birth place as only good for their burials.
‘ we all grew up in the village and we are able to rise successfully in our place duty . We should continue to render whatever is good to our home. Nobody is there to harm us , so , we should avoid the fears of going home. We are afraid of going home , but , happy to do everything possible to go home Yuletide and when we pass on , corpse will lowered into the grave out home. So , we need to change the narrative.” He advised.He said the youths should strive at being award winners not givers as the future is bright enough to accommodate their ingenuity of a greater nation.
On the topic; ” Veritable Roles of Youth in Democratic Governance” Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo as a case study, Mr Ehimony said the Governor performance beyond peoples expectations was necessitated by his adequate preparation for governance.
According to him, leadership is not gotten on the platter of gold but rather on serious preparation and determination for success.
Other beneficiaries include, Chairman, Magistrates Association of Nigeria, kogi state chapter, Ibrahim Denja Eleson, APC Youth leader in Kogi, Mohammed Mohammed : Sqenator Natasha Apoti Uduaghan representing Kogi Central as the “Best Performing Senator In Kogi State, Hon. Salman Idris, Member House Of Rep as best performing member from Kogi West and Hon. Tijani Ozigi as Best Performing Member House of Rep from Kogi Central.
Others are Hon. Idris Zachariah as best performing member House of Rep form Kogi East, best performing Lecturer in Kogi State, Doctor Awa Grace Ehimony, best performing Legal Practitioner in Lokoja, Barr. Mohammed G. Mohammed, best Motor Spare Parts Dealer in Kogi State, Mr Augustine Ejefobiri, Doctor Bolufemi O. Olarewaju as “The Digital Serial Entrepreneur In The 21st Century”, Treasury Eatery as the ” Best Eatery in Kogi State, While the “Best Fashion Designer Award in Kogi State” goes to Mrs Babalola Ifejola Sherifat.
