Kogi NSCDC Arrests Army Impostor who defraud victim of #190,000

The Kogi state command of the Nigerian Security and civil Defence Corps NSCDC have arrest a man who allegedly posed as a military officer to defraud his victims of the sum of one hundred and ninety thousand naira.
The.commandant , Suleiman Ibrahim Marafa while parading the suspect, Ibrahim Idris on Tuesday in Lokoja, said the accused was initially arrested for breach of contract between him and one Austin Ovize of Okenwe Area of Okene , kogi state.
The Commandant disclosed that on investigation, Nigerian Army Identity Card with the name Yahaya Idris was found on him.
He said the suspect confessed to the crime but said , one of his customers who is an Army Corporal serving in Abuja procured the alleged identify card for him to evade security check points while transacting his business.

The Commandant, who has just resumed duty at the state last week explained further , that on further investigation, the identity card was believed to have been printed at UTC business District ,Area 10 Abuja .
He added that the command has written to the Nigerian Army 176 Gaurds Battalion Abuja for authentication and confirmation for probable arrest of his collaborator.
According to him, the Nigerian Army is a symbol of Nigeria’ s Unity, hence , should not be associated with procurement of its Identity Card to a fake person, said the army authority will shed more light to assist the command in their investigation.
He called on Nigerians to report suspicious movement and activities of people to security agencies for prompt attention.
The suspect, 27 years fish farmer who hails from Kotonkarfe , in Kogi Local Government Area of the state said he got into trouble when his customer, one Austin Ovize of Okenwe in Okene approach him for the supply of fish , saying , he mistakenly gave him his estranged girl friend’s account number in which, he paid in the sum of #190,000 .
According to him, ” When he ask me to give him my account number to transfer the said amount to me, I mistakenly gave my former girl friend’s account to him. But , when he was expected to receive the consignment I couldn’t, because I didn’t see the alert and that was when he reported to the men of the NSCDC who swiftly arrested me.
” It was during interrogation, that the name on the ID card was different from the one on my passport which gave me out to them.
” In fact I don’t even know that having military ID card was an office. One of my customers in Abuja, a corporal in the Nigeria Army procure it for me to help me have free passage at security check points”. Ibrahim Idris confessed.
Meanwhile the Commandant said after the completion of diligent investigation, the suspect would be charged to court.
