Niger Govt.Dismantles unauthorized Motor parks.

Niger State Government has commenced the dismantling of all illegal motor parks in the state capital starting from Wednesday, 9th June, 2021.
The State Deputy Governor, Alh. Ahmed Mohammed Ketso disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the ban of illegal motor parks at the Government House, Minna.
He said that the move to close down all illegal motor parks was to enhance security in the transportation sector.
The deputy governor named the nine legal authorized parks as follows, Abdulsalami Garage, Central Garage, Kpakungu Garage, Limawa Garage, NSTA Garage, Mobil Garage, Peace Travel Park, Nice Travel Park; and Kure Market.
“Therefore, henceforth all commercial vehicles must obtain commercial plate numbers with immediate effect.
“Government is advising all commuters to desist from taking public transport outside the stipulated garages in the interest of safeguarding their lives and properties,” he said.
He added that no vehicles would be allowed to take passengers outside the designated government-approved parks, stating that standard manifest designed and produced by the Ministry of Transportation will be used at all motor parks.
The deputy governor affirmed that the government has further banned the use of private vehicles for commercial purposes as anyone caught would be prosecuted.
On the ban of commercial motorcycles in the state, the deputy governor said that the law has been adhered to a great extent.
According to him, the ban on commercial motorcycles has come to stay, saying that the ban was to safeguard the state capital.
He warned and admonished the law enforcers on the commercial motorcycle ban not to act above the confine of their modus operandi, and warned that violators must not take laws into their hands by attacking the taskforce men.
Alh. Ketso added that all tricycles and private motorcycles must be properly registered and must have riders’ permit.
On the abducted136 Islamiyyah School children, the deputy governor said that the government is committed to seeing to their safe return.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Transportation, Hajiya Ramatu Yar’adua said that they were aware of the shortage of the NSTA buses plying some designated routes in Minna.
Hajiya Ramatu added that the plan was to provide tricycles and be distributed through the tricycle association in the state; the ministry is exploring avenues to provide more buses in Minna, even though this was not part of the plan.
