Miliki knocks Governor Bello over Birthday party.
* Accuses him of using apublic fund to bankroll private celebration.
The Executive Director , Conscience for Human Rights and Conflicts Resolution CHRCR Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, has slammed Governor Yahaya Bello for using public funds to bankrol his birthday party, which ordinarily ought to be a private affairs .
Miliki in a statement made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Saturday, pointed out that birthday celebration which is purely a private affairs which should not be funded by the public till as it was allegedly done by governor Yahaya Bello.
According to the Activist ” Birthday celebration by individuals, countries even institutions is a reflection of life well spent, evaluation of personal achievements; stock taking and thanks giving which ought not to be a burden on the state.
“The live television coverage that was withnessed during the 46 birthday ceremony of the governor of kogi State is worrisome.
More importantly when such activities is not and have never been associated with any direct benefits to the people of kogi State.
” This celebration in a sane clime ,such party should be used to commissioning projects, visit to orhanage homes, projects sites etc etc.
” Regrettably , if I may ask how many projects have the governor initiated and commissioned on a live television, which shows clearly that it is his private affairs but force the expenses on the public Expense which is regrettable and unfortunate.
“As at today kogi State has no television of its own in the 21st century, even when he had so far received about four hundred billions Naira from the federation accounts ,unfortunately with this collosal amount , he decided to lavish the money on live coverage on private televisions instead of using the money to establish his own state television” He bemoaned
