The Kogi state Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured the state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , Suleiman I.Mafara of his commitment to support the Corps, both in logistics and materials to raise the capacity of officers and men to fight security threats across the state.
The Governor gave the assurance on Friday when the new commandant S.I Mafara presented his letter of deployment to him in his office in Lokoja.
He noted that he is pleased with the performance of the corps in fighting crimes and criminalities in the state , adding that the commandant Suleiman Mafara has in earnest hit the ground running with launching of novel operations aimed at rejigging the operational capacity of the corps.
According to the governor, ” Even though I have not met the new NSCDC Commandant in person, but the accurate and timely reports he has received from the corps shows that he has the capacity to fight crimes in the state.
” The state NSCDC has been contributing enormously to the fight against men of the underworld in the state unsung. It takes a sincere man to appreciate their contributions to peace and security we are enjoying in the state and having ex rayed their efforts , I can say with confidence that the corps has performed creditable well without compromising their professional integrity.” He declared
While welcoming the commandant to the state , he assured him of his commitment to ensure that his service in the state would be worthwhile even as he pledged to back the corps with needed logistics and materials support.
In a remark, the commandant commended the Governor for his support to the Command, assuring him that the command will reciprocate his gesture with total commitment to fighting crimes and criminality across the state.
He explained that in an effort to over run criminals of all shades , on assumption office in the state launched Rapid Response Squad RRS to support the command existing Task Force , adding that female armed squad has also been mobilised to under go intensive training aimed at fortifying the security architecture of the state.
He assured the governor that with the high morale and spirit of his personnel, and with cooperative synergy with other sister security agencies, criminals would meet their Waterloo, advising hoodlums not to come to the state in their own interests.
While assuring Muslims and citizenry of the safety of their lives and property during the yuletide said he has deployed over 2000 officers to checkmate the activities of the undesirable elements in the state.
