*Petitions trail two names shortlisted.
The much awaited emergence of the new Attah Igala may be named by Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello sooner than expected baring unforseen situations.
This is coming on the heels of the five man committee inaugurated by the governor to screen and to paintakingly consider all the knots and loose ends in selecting the person to the office of an Attah Igala.
Treasuretimes can authoritatively inform the public that the members of the committee were drawn from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and who are knowledgeable and abreast with the selection process for the office of traditional stool in the state.
The committee , as gathered is set to recommend the most acceptable and most qualified aspirant to the Government for final approval.
Treasuretimes equally gathered that the committee has begun their assignment by interfacing with the Igalamela king makers who recommended a candidate while the AjuAmeacho ruling house also nominated an aspirant apiece.
It was equally scooped that the two nominees where weighed down with bogus petitions, however, the committee were determined to do thorough job as it has commenced series of meetings with critical stakeholders across Igalaland.
The committee , who are men of high integrity , Treasuretimes learnt , have vowed not to be distracted by any form of consideration, until , the right person as laid down by the ascension order is recommended to the Governor for final approval.
Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello has vowed to ensure that the credible candidate within the purvey of the ascension law is declared winner for the peace and tranquility of Igala land in particular and Kogi in general.
According to the Governor, “the process of selecting the next Attah is ongoing. It most be completed and as soon as it is concluded, we will make sure the announcement is made.
” I so much respect the traditional institution in Kogi state and I don’t want any imposition or manipulations whatsoever. We will ensure that the right person emerged.” The governor assured.
