2023: Presidency: PDP not in power to rotate power – Hon. Alfred Bello.
A former Kogi State Lawmaker and Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State, Hon. Alfred Bello, has advised proponents of power rotation to have a rethink as the party is not in power at the centre that would warrant zoning formula.
Hon. Alfred Bello , a one time Member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, stated this against the background of mounting pressures on the PDP to zone its Presidency.
He explained that since the party is not holding power at the center, asking it to rotate the Presidency becomes laughable.
He said the ruling APC presently has a sitting President from the North, which behoves on the party to rotate the presidency to the South , even as he urged the party to pick her presidential candidate from the zone it considered favourable to it to win election.
According to Alfred Bello ” This is my personal opinion. It is only a party that is in power that can rotate power. We are not in power so what do we rotate.
“APC can rotate power by zoning their Presidential seat to the South because it is very obvious that a northerner is the current president in their party.
” But PDP will pick her Presidential candidate from any zone in the country that can make it win election.
” So PDP is not duty bound to zone to the South. Infact you don’t give what you don’t have.
” At appropriate time, PDP will pick her candidate from a suitable zone that would enable the Party to win election”.He state.
