Old Students Construct, Donate 300 Capacity Ultramodern Examination Hall To Titcombe College Egbe
The Old Students’ Association of Class 1991 Set, Titcombe College (TC’91) Egbe, has constructed a new ultramodern 300 seater Examination Hall worth N30 million and donated it to the school (Alma mater).
The Examination hall was dedicated and handed over to the college to mark the TC’91 set’s 30th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
In his remarks, Mr Kenneth Bamisaye, the President of TC’91 Set, expressed gratitude to God for the completion and dedication of the examination hall.
He noted that the school was established in 1951, but never had a befitting examination hall, saying students had been written exams in their dining hall including TC’91 set.
He explained that the idea of the project was collectively conceived during the first reunion of the set, and the foundation of the hall was laid by the pioneer President, Otunba Dayo Eluyemi, in October 2017.
He said that the 300 capacity exam hall cost about N30 million, stressing that the project was a milestone in the life of the set, the college, and would remained memorable and a moment to relish and be proud of.
”I must confess that the project was ambitious to start with, but we were motivated by the eagerness to give back to this fountain of knowledge centre, TC Egbe.
”We give God the glory for another privilege to witness the completion and dedication of the project today”, Bamisaye said.
He, therefore commended all the TC’91 set for their fervent ideas, tough and steady preparations, moral and financial commitment as well as careful criticism in making the project a reality.
Bamisaye appealed to other sets and alumni of the school to come and give back to their Alma mater and make impact in the college.
On his part, Dr Michael Dare Idowu, the Secretary General TC’91 set, said the motto of the school, ‘Learn and Worship’ stood out as encapsulating the ideals and beliefs of the college.
According to him, there is no how you would pass through this magnificent institution without having a firm foundation to build your career at a later year.
”Here, you do not only acquire knowledge through committed and dedicated tutors but you are also moulded in reverence and worship of God.
”It is therefore not out of ordinary when you find the products of TC Egbe, excel in their chosen endeavours”, Idowu said.
Engr. Friday Abimbola, the Senior Prefect TC91 Set, commended the effort of the pioneer President, who single handedly gathered all TC’91 set from nooks and crannies which served as genesis of their reunion.
”My beloved TC91 set, it is not over, there is still more grounds to be broken, more is still expected from us towards the decoration of the hall and other things in the college”, Abimbola said.
The College Principal, Elder Johnson Onirinwa, commended the TC’91 set for being focused, proactive and dogged in spite the challenges encountered in the process, saying, it was unique, enviable and worthy of emulation for all and sundry.
”Set 91, I covet your unwavering determination, courage and faith, which are the catalysts that brought you to this peak.
”I pray that the Almighty God whom you have given this gift will surely reward you all handsomely; you shall not lose your reward”, Onirinwa said
The set had earlier embarked on a health walk, tagged: ”Walk for Life”, an exercise to create awareness and maintain fitness.
The highlights of the occasion was the dedication of the Examination hall and the cutting of the 30th Anniversary Cake. A minute silence was observed for their deceased school mates.
The dedication was performed by Pst. Samuel Fatoye, the Chairman, Egbe District Church Council.
Fatoye commended the group for executing the project in this hard times and prayed God to bless them tremendously, while congratulating the principal and students for the magnificent project executed during their time.
The college head boy college, Yakubu Christopher, said the students were excited and grateful about the hall, saying, ”I am very happy my set will be the first to write exam in the hall”.
Seminars were also delivered by different speakers on various topics, which include: ”Designing My Future”, by Funke Adeniyi; ”Consolidating On The Gains, Reaching New Frontiers”, by Adewumi Adewale; and ”Reason For Increase In Crime and Criminalities Among Youths”, by Mr Raphael Eledewo
