I’m Working to making SEDI–M Centre of Scientific Excellence— Prof Mohammed.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Scientific Research and Development Institute, (SEDI-M) Minna, Prof. Ndaliman Baba Mohammed (Walin Kadna) has said his vision for the Institute was to become an innovative center of excellence with huge production capacity.

The MD, who spoke to journalists in his office recently, said he was working to build an upper class research and innovation center with huge amount of knowledge that guarantee mass production of scientific and research equipment.

According to him “our plan is to leave a legacy for the institute in the next ten years where you have huge amount of knowledge that guarantee production of new and different innovative products. And this we have started already, he reiterated.

Prof Ndaliman said the institute’s main mandate was to research into and produce scientific equipment for practical demonstrations in basic, post basic and tertiary institutions and for other industrial uses.

He said over the years, the center had achieved, to a moderate extend, its mandate and it was working to innovate with time to meet the challenges of a dynamic world.

He said the research institute has partnered with both the state governments and private concerns in many areas of interest and has contributed its quota in adding value to knowledge and business profitability of enteprenures.

The MD, while reeling out some of the recent achievements recorded so far, said the institute has produced high quality wooden doors and has been training willing partners who would want to improve on their skills or acquire new skills in their chosen careers and also to add value to their businesses.

He said although funding was a major challenge, the management, he asserted, were doing everything within the available resources to meet up with some of its core mandate.

He said the institute has a very good relationship with its host communities and as part of its corporate social responsibility, has dug bore holes, donated learning materials to schools in the communities and has also participated in other activities that has promoted the welfare and security of its host.
