The Kogi state Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has paraded six teenagers suspected to be fulani kidnappers.
Parading the suspects at the state command headquarters in Lokoja on Monday, the Commandant, Suleiman Mafara said, his men made the arrest in conjunction with the Hunters Group of Nigeria , kogi state command.
Mafara disclosed that the kidnappers who were between the ages of 15 and 20 and were believed to be fulanis from katsina and Niger states have been a torn in the lives of inhabitants of Oshokoshoko, Obajana Akpata Communities along Kabba road.
He added that on receipt of credible complaints from victims of their nefarious activities of kidnapping for ransom and raping of women, his men in conjunction with hunters group swung into action an arrested them from the forest used as their operational base.
The Commandant disclosed that one Mrs Rebecca Simon was abducted on the 20th February 2021 and a ransom of #200,000 was paid by the husband before she regained her freedom, adding that another victim, James Peter was set free after parting with #230,000 to the hoodlums.
He said items recovered from them include, Locally made pistol, 4 singlet bullets proof, 2 materials believed to be charms; Rings, Hoods , Bangles, Half bag of Sesame and 4litres of Petroleum product.
Also paraded is one Olusola Abayomi, 37, from Yagba West who specialises in house breaking and theft at Shetima Area of Lokoja.
Items recovered from him were, 42”startime plasma TV, 32”Sony TV; Gas Cylinder, Pumping Machine, Stabilizer and fan, assorted food items and a traveling bag containing clothings and shoes.
He said, the suspects on interrogation confessed to the crime saying, they would be charged to Court after conclusion of investigation.
He called on the people to offer credible and timely information about the activities of criminals to the law enforcement agencies in order to rid the society of criminal elements.
