Wemi Jones commemds  Kogi Teachers for Diligence to Duties.

The Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones (FCIB) commended teachers in the state for diligence on Friday when he paid a surprise working visit to Government Science Secondary School Aloma in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

He praised the teachers of the school for being at their duty posts even though the visit was unannounced.

He said the state government would motivate teachers; having expectations of them to turn out the best students that would compete favourably with their peers not just in Nigeria but globally.

“We will motivate teachers. We are very confident that our teachers will give us what we want from our children.

“We want them (children) to turn out the best among their peers not just in Nigeria but internationally.”

The Commissioner promised to enlist GSSS Aloma among early beneficiaries of government intervention Programmes to schools.

“I must thank you teachers for being at your duty post. You didn’t know I was coming, yet you were already there. I am very impressed!

“Because of what I’ve seen today, let me assure you that your school will be paramount in my mind for government intervention in schools.

“By the grace of God and commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello, there will be a lot that will happen going forward”, he promised.

Mr. Jones who bemoaned the state of infrastructure in the school said the situation will be redressed.

He commended teachers in the state for improved performance in the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) results, saying there were higher expectations on students’ performances generally.

The principal of the school, Mr. Egbunu Tijani who was highly elated at the visit requested for a new transformer for restoration of electricity to the school.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi
