NPC ; Reinventing Modern Technology In Educational Institutions In Nigeria.

Amidst COVID in it’s first ,second,third and fourth wave, including the variants of Delta and Omicron currently bedevilling the globe,and other health challenges,the need for government intervention both in public and private educational institutions in Nigeria became sancrosanct.
These, along with other natural phenomenon affecting education in Nigeria, that is desiring urgent attention and support to reposition our educational system, with a view to meeting the yearnings and aspirations of government as one of the core area of social services.
Since the National Productivity Centre NPC remained the hub of positive engagements,the policy of instilling as well inculcating in both public and private educational institutions modern technology through provision of modern equipments cannot be overemphasized.
With the world at the middle of global age,where human interference into series of activities is at minimal stage,the need to embrace modern technology is non negotiable.
The sad experience of Nigeria’s children in public and some private institutions during the emergency period of COVID, possible lockdown and other consequences that affected social, economic and infrastructural developement on the long run,the need for government proactiveness cannot be overlooked.
Therefore,the new policy framework of the National Productivity Centre NPC through donation of computers,lab tops and other equipments to schools in Nigeria was the right step in the right direction.
The ongoing programs distribution of these highly sophisticated softwares to schools, tertiary instructions and universities in Nigeria will go along way in ameliorating the problems of computer education prevalent not only at the foundation level,but at the top level of Education in Nigeria.
The recent donation of some items to Kogi State Polytechnic,Lokoja,Kogi State University Anyigba, now Prince Abubakar Audu University,Anyigba,Kogi State College of Education Ankpa, National Open University Study Centre Ankpa,Government Science Secondary School Dekina,and also an institute in Ankpa, will not only improved on the teaching and learning of pupils in computer and modern technology education,as well as encouragement to key into modest and modern technological breakthrough, that had fast tracked all human activities in the current era.
This positive developement has brought alot of relief not only to students but teachers and lecturers of various institutions in the event of any unforeseen circumstances, to nurture students through e-learning in our various institutions across the country.
The foundational approach adopted by the NPC, will be easier for pupils both at primary, secondary, tertiary and the University to get acquainted with the intricacies of operation and usage of computers as a basis of learning skills.
At this critical time,when virtually all government institutions and private organisations are driving the process of computer education and technology,it is germane that the current moves by NPC came at the right time.
Without doubt,the appreciation of the benefitting Schools across the country particularly in Kogi State has showed the willingness to embrace and adopt modest technology across the country.
With the donation of five (5) laptops of HP quality to Kogi State Polytechnic,Lokoja,Twenty (20) to Kogi State University Anyigba,also Known as Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, National Open University Study Centre, Ankpa got ten (10), Ten (10) nos of desktop and printers to Government Science Secondary School Dekina, Twenty pieces (20) to Kogi State College of Education Ankpa,and a private education institute in Ankpa got ten nos (10),was a good start when sustained in the future.
National Productivity Centre NPC has taken a bold step towards advancement of technology driven education that will bequeath on our children more modest and modern knowledge to compete favourably both within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
It is a welcome development and exemplary under the leadership of Dr Kashim Akor,Director General, National Productivity Centre NPC, by giving special attention to computer technology education that will bring to par our products with other worlds.
