Niger NUT distributes over #341M to Members

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Niger State Wing has distributed the sum of three hundred and forty one million,one hundred and forty thousand naira to one thousand, one hundred and eleven teachers across the state through different loan schemes

Four hundred and eighty four members benefitted from the loan on education with the sum of thirty six million, seven hundred and fifty five thousand naira.

Four million, four hundred thousand was distributed to twenty seven teachers as special loan,as six hundred teachers benefitted from material loan with the sum of about thirty million

The loan is contained in a report presented by Chairperson Of Board Of Trustees, Endwell Scheme Hajiya Dije Bala during Biennial General Meeting of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Teacher’s Social Security Scheme

The report according to Hajiya Dije Bala covered benefitted from the scheme for the years two thousand and nineteen and two thousand and twenty.

In two thousand and nineteen the report added the scheme distributed materials which include building materials,industrial machine,electronics and motorcycles

The Chairperson further disclosed that the sum of fifteen million naira was given to members as revolving fund for education loan to members to enhance their Professional competence.

Teachers also benefitted from emergency loans on ill-health conditions, blown off roofs and building collapse among others

The Chairperson also explained that the Scheme was unable to give material loans to members as a result of non remittance of subscription/loan repayment from Government

Complete stoppage of deductions of members in the Secondary Schools and other agencies, as well as deductions from Local Government Areas were not consistent

The sum of over two hundred and thirty million was distributed to one thousand, eight hundred and nine members as terminal benefits

Such terminal benefits includes three hundred and thirteen death benefits, sixty four transfer of service and retirement with one thousand, two hundred and eighty two among others

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Niger State Wing Comrade Akayago Adamu Muhammad told the subscribers that the Scheme have more than thirty thousand subscribers in Primary and Secondary Schools as well as Education Agencies in the State

Comrade Akayago Adamu Muhammad noted that the Scheme has an onerous task of maintaining the existing legacies as recorded by previous administrations

The Chairman maintained that they will initiate programmes and schemes that will benefit a lot of the teachers while in service and after retirement

He acknowledged that the out break of coronavirus pandemic has affected the activities of the Union and also Endwell Schemes

He lamented on stoppage of deductions, non-remittance of deductions by the State Government and inconsistent remittance deductions from State Universal Basic Education Board and Local Government Councils
