The Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commision (CAC) Alhaji Garba Abubakar has been bestowed with the “2021 Newsdirect Award of Excellence for Exemplary Leadership in Public Sector Administration” in recognition of the reform initiatives being implementing by the Commision.
One of Nigeria’s fast growing Newspapers, Nigerian Newsdirect presented him with the Award at a ceremony to mark the paper’s 11th anniversary at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
Presenting the award on behalf of News Direct’s Editorial Board, Prince Dr. Samuel Ebiyemi highlighted series of reform initiatives undertaken by Alhaji Garba Abubakar since assumption of duty as CAC Scribe two years ago.
Ibiyemi said the decision to honor the CAC Registrar General took a comparative of different CEOs in the country, government agencies and actors and drivers of the Nigerian economy anchored on indices of quality, due process and sectoral impacts, among other deliverables.
He added that Alhaji Garba Abubakar has been piloting the affairs of CAC in positive way through the introduction of series of reform initiatives pursuant to CAMA, 2020.
According to Dr. Ibiyemi, the introduction of electronic signature, electronic certificate with QR code , one man company, amalgamation of incorporated trustees with similar objectives, disclosure of persons with significant control amongst others are some of the milestones recorded by the CAC under the stewardship of Alhaji Garba Abubakar.
He added that the full digitization of CAC operations has not only enhanced effective and efficient service but also reduced to the nearest minimum the incidence of fraud and fraud related activities in the system.
He therefore challenged him to sustain the tempo and implored others to emulate the google example demonstrated by the CAC Registrar General.
Responding, the CAC scribe thanked Newsdirect for finding him worthy of the award and pledged to continue to implement laudable reforms to ensure that the Commision operates at par with some of the best company registries across the globe.
Represented by the Head of CAC Registry Department, Ladi Abubakar, the Registrar General said the Commision was leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it’s Customers enjoy more efficient service in the coming months.
During the event which was well attended by captains of industry, politicians and top government functionaries, the Governors of Osun, Ogun , Borno and Nassarawa states amongst others were also honored.
Others awardees include the NDLEA Chairman, NNPC Managing Director, DG NIMASA and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
During the event which was broadcast live on TVC News, the National leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and Former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a keynote address through his representative, the Lagos State Commisioner of environment, Honourable Tunji Bello.
