HYPPADEC; MD commends FG over recruitment of staff members.
The Managing Director of the Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission,.Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa has commended the Federal Government for its commitment to the take off of the commission.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive gave the commendation on Monday at a training organised for newly recruited staff of the commission held in Lokoja.
The MD/CEO who was represented by Jimoh Haruna Gadai, Director Administration and Finance of the Commission, disclosed that 400 staff who were recently employed , had 13 of them from kogi srtate.
He said the four days training will equip the newly appointed staff with the civil service rules, ethics of the commission, as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The MD/CEO expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the National Assembly for their support and funding for the commission, assures that the objectives of the Commission will be realized in the State.
He added that with the commission has enjoyed unhindered support from the federal government since the passage of the bill and eventual assent, would spur the commission to tackle menace of flooding and ecological challenges facing the member states.
He expressed optimism that the commission will deliver on its Mandate of managing the ecological menace due to operation of dams and other hydro electric power activities in the power producing areas of Nigeria.
He said the goal of Hyppadec is to improve access to social services, enhance sustainable agricultural productivity, accelerate economic growth, increase food security and reduce rural poverty and by implication address social vices in the society.
The Managing Director urged the trainees to take the induction with all seriousness its deserved.
In his remarks, Lee Ahenji, Kogi State Coordinator of HYPPADEC, said the effect of the agency in the state will be massively felt particularly that ten Local Government Areas of the State is usually ravaged by flooding and ecological issues.
He lamented the devastation caused to farmlands, schools and health centres by flooding in the state.
