CHRCR Seeks Stakeholders’ Collaboration for  anti Corruption, Transparency Crusade.

The Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution CHCRC has tasks all stakeholders in the anti Corruption and Transparency crusade to work together as a team to defeat corruption cankerworm ravaging the country.
This was a summary of the review of strategic meeting of Civil Society on prioritising anti Corruption , Transparency and Accountability issues, organised by CHRCR in conjunction with CISLAC with funding from MacArthur foundation held on Tuesday in Lokoja.
The one day strategic review meeting have in attendance, members of the civil society organisations, the faith based organisations, the Press , people with disabilities, youths and professional groups.
The communiqué signed by the Executive Director, CHRCR Comrade Abdul Miliki Idris noted that the  dreaded corruption has gone beyond demanding for monetary gratification, to actions that promotes personal interest against the interest of the general public.
According to the statement, despite increase in Media reportage on Corruption and Accountability issues, there was still gaps in the information on Anti-Corruption and Accountability  on elections at the grassroot levels.
It decries the outcome  of elections at state and national levels overtime which have not been satisfactory and acceptable to the larger majority of citizens.
The Executive Director charged The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Kogi State to show commitment in mobilising citizens , political parties and Candidates  to making anti corruption a campaign pitch  for the 2023 general elections .
“There are  several reports of eligible persons who have wished to Register to Vote but can no longer do so due to the closure of the registration portal.
” That Political corruption has had severe implications on the quality of Governance by throwing up persons with Questionable characters for elections.
” Condemn the outrageous expenses and monetisation that characterises electioneering campaigns towards the 2023 elections.
*Despite several efforts and interventions by various stakeholders, there is still serious gaps incorporating Persons with Disability in electoral process.
“Internal Political Party Democracies have over the years, has been a  stumbling block in successive  elections in Nigeria due to corruption and lack of accountability in political parties” He noted.
While calling for synergic relationship among the stakeholders implementing anti corruption and accountability, urged them to sustain and ensure scale up and scope of success in the 2023 general elections.
