The Nigerian Chief Of Army Staff Lt General Faruk Yahaya , Say’s The Nigerian has introduced high breed operational tactics in dealing with terrorism and other forms of crimes in the Country.
The Chief of Army Staff said experiences gathered by the Army in the fights against insurgencies and banditry, necessitates the review of it’s training to involved different tactics of warfare, which includes conventional capabilities,irregular tactics ,counter insurgencies and that of terrorism.
The Chief Of Army Staff disclosed this during a median Military Exercise ,code named Exercise “Mugun Bugu” (Deadly strike) at the Nigerian Army Training Center Kontagora, in Niger State.
The Army Chief mentioned that the Security challenges facing the country now will soon be thing of the past through the effective training ,and synergy.
He assured that the Nigerian Army along sides other security agencies and stakeholders will defeat this ugly trend in the country.
“The involvement of the Nigerian Army in counter insurgencies and internal security operation across the Nation , necessitates the need to prepared the Army for high breed operations and task ahead”he added.
Lt General Yahaya stated that the increasing complexity of the prevailing security Challenges in the Country, which rose between asymmetric and conventional warfare, had necessitates the Army to seek for new strategies and techniques curbing the menace.
He stressed that there would be no more hiding place for terrorist, bandits,kidnappers and any other forms of criminality that will take up arms against the State any longer.
The Army Chief further disclosed that the Nigerian Army will not rest until peace and security is restored across the country, as mandated by President.
The Chief of Army Staff then commended the combined force’s of the Mugun Bugu Exercise , adding that “Professionals training by the various schools in the Military course ,and other institutions need to be blended and integrated to operate in synergy in other to deliver effectively for the desired result.
General Yahaya added that effective integration of skills and competency of all the course into one course for effective operations is the essence of the Operation Mugun Bugu,.
He further mentioned that the exercise has brought all the combat arms and combat support arms together to operate with each other performing it’s unique role in combating crimes.
The Chief of Army Staff however urged the participants of the exercise operation Mugun Bugu to take the lessons leant back to their respective Commands and institutions for proper and realistic training as well as retraining of personnel for the challenges ahead in line with the vision of the Nigerian Army Chief .
The Commander Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command ,Major General Stevenson Olabanji in his remarks commended the Chief of Army Staff for the approval of the exercise, and provision of other facilities needed for the exercise.
He further commended Army Corp Commanders , the NATRAC Commander Maj Gen Lukman Omoniyi, Commander for successfully conducting the exercise.
