Niger CP visits  Controller of Correctional Service, Seeks  Collaboration.

The newly posted commissioner of police, Niger state Command,Ogundele J Ayodeji psc(+) has paid  courtesy visit to the controller of Correctional Service, Salman Abdulkadir fsi, in his office in Minna.

CP Ayodeji who was recently deployed to the State as the commissioner of police, Niger state command, stated that the purpose of the visit was to seek for cooperation and synergy with the Command in the State and also to identify were there is problem so that it can be addressed for better service delivery.

He stated that the purpose of his visit was to seek  for more areas of cooperation, collaboration  and synergy with the Command  in the state that the role of the Nigerian correctional service, being a criminal justice partner of the police and judiciary cannot be  ignored or neglected.

CP Ayodeji described the Nigerian correctional service as a bank of intelligence gathering and information sharing organization adding that being a criminal justice partner of the Nigeria police force and the Judiciary hence need for synergy to make their work easier.

The New Police Boss therefore, solicit for the support of the Nigerian correctional service to reduce crime and criminality to the barest minimum in the state taken into consideration, the incessant problem of youth restiveness around Minna metropolis, the forthcoming 2023 general elections and political campaigns.

The controller of Corrections, Niger state command, Salman Abdulkadir fsi,in his response, thanked the newly posted commissioner of police and his entourage for the visit.

CC Salman, assured the CP of the maximum support and cooperation of the Nigerian correctional service, under his leadership in the state to achieve a common goal of ensuring peace, safety and security in the state.

Controller Salman, used the opportunity to explain some of the transformations that has taken place in the Nigerian correctional service which includes the Non custodial services following the signing into law of the NCoS Act 2019.

The controller of Corrections, Salman Abdulkadir fsi, equally solicit for the support and cooperation of the Nigeria Police on the implementation of the Non custodial measures.

In another related development, the zonal coordinator, North Central zone of the centre for the control of small arms and lite weapons in the office of the NSA, Maj. Gen. H I Bature Rtd. paid a similar visit to the controller of Corrections, Niger state command,seeking for support and cooperation between the centre and the NCoS.

Rtd Gen Bature, explained that the proliferation of illegal arms in the hands of wrong persons in the country is alarming which according to him  necessitated the establishment of the centre across the six geopolitical zones of the country, in other to checkmate the spread of dangerous weapons which according to him, has resulted in communal clashes, kidnapping and other forms of conflicts in the Nation.

The Rtd Gen similarly described the Nigerian correctional service as a  key stakeholder in the area of intelligence gathering and information sharing to stem the circulation of illicit arms.

He stated that the Nigerian correctional service being a custodian of all category of offenders, is a critical partner in progress in the management of crimes and criminality.

Responding, the controller of Corrections, Niger state Salman Abdulkadir fsi, thanked the coordinator and his team for the visit.

He assured  him of the maximum support and cooperation of the Nigerian correctional service to achieve a common and meaningful goal and objective.

The controller expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the security captains for the important visits.
