Kogi West stakeholders hail INEC for conducting credible polls
Stakeholders across various political parties have hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for conducting an election that they can be satisfactorily adjudged free, fair and credible.
The APC Senatorial Candidate for Kogi West, Hon. Sunday Karimi, has commended INEC for conducting free, fair and credible Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Karimi gave the commendation while speaking to Journalists after casting his vote at his polling unit in Odo Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area, on Saturday.
”The fact that INEC came out early is something that is welcoming and kudos to them.
”I hope the situation will be like this all over the places. The turnout is impressive thus far, and we are okay with it,” Karimi said.
He noted that although there were few cases of BVAS not functioning well in few polling units, but was later resolved.
The APC senatorial candidate urged his supporters to be calmed, cast their ballots, and wait for the results.
”I believed we have worked hard enough as a party to win the election. I am positive that we are going to win,” Karimi said
While speaking with journalists in his country home in Isanlu, the Kogi commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris explained that the election in Yagba east was relatively Peaceful and the turnout was encouraging.
”The turnout was massive and the conduct was peaceful, because our people understands themselves and that is why you can see that our people are together without police and Military Operatives around us.
We are the police to ourselves because we believe that in voting, we don’t need to fight. Election is about development”.
Idris added that “Kogi West is totally for APC and we are hopeful and by the Grace of God, we will come out victorious in Nigeria and not only in Kogi State”.
On his part, Hon Tajudeen Faniyi, PDP House Representive Candidate, Yagba Federal Constituency, also commended INEC for the free and fair elections.
”The voters came out in a good time and everything is in progress except when it got to a stage that particular party was trying to introduce vote buying but our people resisted it.
”Everything was under control, and we are progressing gradually.
Faniyi commended INEC for the arrangements put in place to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
The PDP House of Representative candidate, enjoined his supporters to be focused and not be distracted, saying PDP would come out victorious.
On his parts, Hon. Sunday Maiyaki, the PDP House of Assembly Candidate for Yagba West, commended the INEC for the introduction of BVAS.
He said the election was peaceful, free, fair and credible, saying, ”by and large BVAS has been the saving grace,” Maiyaki said.
