The Management of Salem University Lokoja has announced that a total of 168 students will be graduating with various classes of degrees in her forthcoming 7th Convocation, holding on Friday 21st November, 2025.
This is just as, Dr. James Ogwu Onoja SAN and Justice Stephen Adah would be conferred with Doctorate Degrees, honoris causa while 4 students got first class , 93 emerged Second Class upper division, 31 lower division while two students got third class degree.
This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Alewo Johnson Akubo during the Pre- Convocation press briefing held on Tuesday in Lokoja.
The VC noted that the University has made tremendous growth in nurturing global leaders who are certified in learning and in character, who are making global impact.
He said Salem University was birthed through divine inspiration and a vision to raise global leaders who are spiritually alive, intellectually alert, and socially responsible to the society.
According to him ,Salem University has remained consistent and timely in her academic calendar, stressing that institution has zero tolerance for academic corruption, examination malpractice, or unnecessary delays.
Akubo added that the students graduate as scheduled, reflecting their adherence to discipline, morality, and institutional efficiency.
He explained that the university has made remarkable progress in infrastructural development, initiated the the state-of-the-art buildings for Anatomy and Physiology Departments under the newly established College of Basic Medical Sciences.
“This college now houses the Departments of Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Human Anatomy, and Physiology—all equipped with modern laboratories and learning facilities that meet global standards.This is also in addition to upgrade of existing facilities, fixing and changing of classroom/lecture wares to make them fitting.
“In the same vein, I am delighted to announce that Salem University has recorded significant success in accreditation exercises. We recently received approval to commence the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program—a landmark achievement that positions our university as a rising medical training hub in North-Central Nigeria. This approval and communication mean a lot to use because of its multiple effects, knowing that a college of medicine will have direct benefits to the host community, the state and Nigeria at large.” He informed
Prof. Akubo further disclosed that the University has also secured full approval and commenced admission into the Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programmes in Biochemistry, Mass Communication, Law, International Relations, and others adding that these programs successfully passed all resource verification exercises and now attract candidates across the country and beyond.
He added that the university is equally making steady progress towards introducing Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Architectural and Environmental Science programmes going forward.
He said these disciplines will open new frontiers for innovation, research, and community impact, in line with the mission to produce well-rounded graduates for the global marketplace
He explained that their graduates—whom he proudly call Change Agents—have continued to distinguish themselves in various industries, from public administration to media, business, technology, and education, and have demonstrated diligence, creativity, and moral uprightness in every sphere of life.
He noted that the faith based knowledge imparted into the students has made the employers at various levels to consistently commend Salem University graduates for their integrity, competence, aptitude, sound moral character, and fear of God, dependability and leadership potentials.
He acknowledged that the students are not just academically sound but spiritually and emotionally balanced—reflecting the holistic education philosophy of this great institution has maintained overtime and still sustaining.
He called on the state governor, Alhaji Ahmad Usman Ododo as a proud alumnus of the institution to launch massive development projects in the school.
He equally challenge members of the state cabinet who are ex students or presently undergoing course of study in the institution to rise to the occasion with grants, scholarship and projects that would assist the growth and development of the ivory tower.
While commending the founder , Bishop Sam Amaga for his vision in establishing the first private University in the entire Northern Nigeria, call on spirited Nigerians of all walks of lives to lend helping hands to enable her achieve the mandate of nurturing future generations for the good of the society.
