In a bid to ensure a seamless Electoral process, the Commissioner of Police in Charge of Election Security in Kogi State, CP Yekini Ayoku, mni today met with Strategic Commanders, Tactical and Operational Commanders and adopted methods to contend with any threat that might disrupt the process.
While the CP commended Officers of the Command on a job well-done during the just-concluded 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Election, he assured citizens and Residents of Kogi State of the Police’s readiness to ensure a secured Electoral Process in the forthcoming House of Assembly Election.
The CP who noted that the forthcoming Election will generate people’s interest and passion stated that the sum of the meeting was to ensure proper security in the forthcoming Kogi State house of assembly Election. He directed all Area Commanders and DPOs to ensure effective visibility policing and also step up their intelligence gathering which will help to forestall any untoward situation.
The Commissioner further warned potential disrupters to stay away from the polling booth and directed that anyone found culpable should be dealt with according to the law.
The Commissioner further reiterates that the ban on the unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, and covered registration number plates is still in force while calling on VIPs to abide by the directive that nobody should move around with security details and warns all security aides to cease from accompanying their principals to polling booths as anyone found flouting this directive would be sanctioned accordingly. Similarly, the CP further disclosed that the use of unauthorized security outfits is barred from participating in the election security management.
To this end, the CP urges the members of the public to come out and vote as adequate security arrangement has been made to ensure a threat and violence-free Election.
