Election Tragedy; ODU pays condolences to Nigeria Army Records Lokoja.

The Executive members of Ogori Descendants’ Union ODU has consoled the Nigerian Army over the death of a soldier who died while on election duties in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi state
The National President of ODU, Engr Gbemi Omole who led a delegation from both Ogori and Magongo Communities, expressed sadness of the death of the soldier in line of duty.
He said the communities appreciates the role of the Nigerian Army in keeping peace, particularly in this trouble times and urged them not to be discouraged.
He thereafter presented on behalf of the Ogori community a cheque of *N650,000.00* as the community’s contribution to the deceased soldier immediate family While a cheque of *N100,000.00* was presented to the wounded soldier.
Responding the Commandant, Nigerian Army Records Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhia expressed delight about the condolence visit, adding that the command appreciated the kind gesture extended by the community.
While noting that it is part of their duties if necessary to pay the supreme price in the line of duty, every soldiers’ dream is not to die.
He particularly thanked the community for appreciating the contribution of the Nigerian Army in nation building and peace keeping.
He assured that the Chief of Army Staff would be properly briefed on the community visit and gesture while the rank and file would be adequately informed too.
The union also reach out to Mr. Aiyedun Abiodun who was assaulted during the election period with the sum of *N50,000.00* to help in offsetting some of the hospital bills.
On the National President team were Mr Jordan Akpata, National President Magongo Development Association, High Chief Banji Akerejola, Mr Ephraim Amurawaiye, Mr Teddy Adegbola, National Secretary ODU, Evangelist Akerele, as well as the Chairman ODU Lokoja branch, Mr Adurodija Ebenezer and National Assistant Secretary 2 Mr Sunday Alao.
