Kogi Guber: pressure mounts on Kogi East to adopt ADP ,Julius Elukpo as sole candidate.
As the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi state takes new twist with each zone adopting sole candidate, palpable pressures are pilling up on the critical stakeholders of Kogi East to nominate Barrister Julius Elukpo PHD of the Action Democratic party as the sole candidate of the zone.
The call was a fall out of the Screening of aspirants of the parties from Kogi East conducted by the Arc.Gabriel Aduku inspired committee in which Julius Elukpo came top with aggregate 96%.
Some stakeholders who does not want their names in print, bare their minds, that the only way for the zone to reclaim power is to produce all acceptable candidate, who is no other person than Barr. Julius Elukpo.
They advised the leadership of the zone to consider merit, capacity and wherewithal in arriving at their decision rather than primordial consideration of tongues and creed.
They said , the interest of the zone in winning the election should be uppermost in the hearts of the people and therefore, a candidate that has intimidating credentials and had lived above aboard in his previous assignments, should be the nod for the Senatorial District.
” To me, candidate that has the interest of the zone at heart and has demonstrated competence and compassion and has made personal sacrifices for the zone.
” We don’t want a candidate that was thrown up by certain circumstances. We must probe their antecedents. What were their doing for a living and how has they impacted on the lives of the zone, should attract our interest. And I hazard a guess to say , Barrister Julius Elukpo PHD still stand tallest.” They chorus.
Meanwhile, Barrister Elukpo and his team where on Tuesday paid courtesy call on his Royal Majesty, Ata’Igala and President Kogi state Traditional Area Council, HRM Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa, where he received royal blessings to prosecute his ambition.
He disclosed that his mission to the palace was to intimate the royal father of his plans and programmes for the zone and the state if he is giving opportunity to govern the state.
He promised not to disappoint the Kogi East and the entire state as he will ensure the construction of Lokoja Shintaku bridge and the completion of Bagana /Guto bridge and completion of Ajaokuta steel company to provide massive employment for the teeming youths.
