Kogi Guber 2023 :  Ododo leads Muri  , Dino , others with 62% in Opinion poll .
Ahead of November 11 Governorship election, an opinion poll has showed a significant lead for the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Usman Ododo with 62 per cent of voters proposing to vote for him.
The poll, commissioned by Kogi Youth For Good Governance,KYGG, and was conducted in June, 2023.
Eight per cent of voters proposed to vote for Dino Melaye of PDP while seven per cent opted for Usman Jibrin of Accord party while 15 percent accepted to support Murtala Ajaka of SDP.
A statement signed by Yakubu Inusa Baba, reads in part: “In summary, our June, 2023 polls indicate that the race is completely over, as the undecided voters (10 per cent) and those who refused to reveal their preferred candidate (15 per cent).
“He noted that the trends in momentum may be further influenced by the concluded presidential and House of Assembly elections where ruling APC made a strong showing in kogi.
The poll also notes that Ododo’s lead at this stage is significant, as opposition voters are fragmented and share between the three main challengers.
The poll shows that almost eight in 10 registered voters are absolutely certain that they would be voting in the next governorship election. If they stay committed then there could be a huge turnout in the election.
While the poll shows some significant trends, it is key to note that it was concluded in June, this year and that the race is still very clear that APC is in the lead.
The opinion polls showed a significant lead for Ododo with 65 per cent of voters proposing to vote for him.
The poll notes: “Muritala’s point lead at this stage is significant but not sufficient to make him win this election.
“This is a severely fragmented race. Undecided voters and those who prefer not to reveal their preferred candidate add up per cent and The gender split of undecided voters shows that women are undecided.
“The poll shows that almost eight in ten registered voters are absolutely certain that they would be voting in the next governorship election. If they stay committed, then we could witness a huge turnout in the November 11, 2023 governorship elections.
“In summary, our June, 2023 polls indicate that the race is completely over, as the undecided voters and those who refused to reveal their preferred candidate are enough to turn the tables.
“A lot will depend on if there has been a further surge, Murtala’s momentum and also on the popularity of SDP, following their strong ethnic showing in the state but with other 7 governorship candidates in the zone, the votes would be shared.
