The Kogi state Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, has nominated Dr. Usman Ogbo, Rector of Kogi state polytechnic to chair this year Press week while Gov ‘Yahaya Bello will be the Special Guest of Honour of the week long event.
While the Chief host is naturally the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Chris Isiguzo the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo will serve as co-host
This is just as the Member, Representing Ajaokuta, Federal Constituency, Hon. Sani Abdulraheem Egidi, Olu Ade of Ekirin Adde, HRM Anthony Bamgbaiye ; Alhaji Ahmed Omeiza Abdullahi OON, a retired Director, State Security Services,
, Isezuo Edward Jatto, a renowned Broadcast Engineer and MD/CEO Jatto FM, Okene,
Dr. Arome Salifu, Chief Executive Officer, Africa Youth Growth Foundation and Engineer Idah Daikwo of the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja would receive various awards from the Union.
The Chairman of NUJ , Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh disclosed this on Tuesday in a world press conference held in Lokoja to herald the Press Week .
The Chairman noted that following the meetings by the Executive Members and the Congress of the Union, the abridge event will commence with Muslim Prayer on Friday, 11th August, 2023 while the Christian prayer will be held on Sunday, 13th August, 2023
He said this will be followed with road walk exercise for members to keep fit and it is scheduled for Monday 14th August, 2023 even as the.grand finale is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 16th August,2023
Comrade Adeiza explained that the decision of the Council to hold the Press Week in an abridged form was basically due to current hash economic realities of the country and as part of the programme there will be public presentation of a book titled: MEDIA DEVELOPMENT IN KOGI STATE (1991- 2023).
According to him ,the book is essentially put together to give an overview account of how the media industry has fared in Kogi State since its creation. ” The 324 page book will be most useful to Communications students in the tertiary institutions and it will as well be very useful to Journalists, media researchers and the reading public.
“In the culture of the union to encourage individuals who are impacting positively on their various communities and people, the Council has carefully selected six aforementioned notable Kogites for the Union awards
While stressing that the Press week would be the last in the life of his administration, Adeiza
enjoins all friends of the media in the state and beyond and the general public to attend the epoch-making occasion.
