Water scarcity: Kogi supplies  free water  to homes with  tankers in Lokoja.

As part of efforts by the Kogi State Government to cushion effect of water scarcity, occasioned by the  ongoing maintenance work on Greater Lokoja Water Works, kogi state government has commenced free supply of portable water to residents of Lokoja using  water tankers.
The State Commissioner For Water Resources Hon. Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk made the disclosure while briefing the leadership of Water Users Association and APC Party Chairmen of the five Wards of Lokoja LGA.
According to Hon. Engr. Yahaya, the Ministry of Water Resources has following the directives of the State Governor, will begin the distribution water using tankers to the residents of the metropolis while efforts he disclosed is ongoing to resuscitate the old Lokoja Water Works for temporary use.
The Commissioner said 20 water tankers have been earmarked to distribute water to residents of the metropolis with long term measures to fix the greater Lokoja water works.
The Commissioner promised to carry the Party and stakeholders along, said though the present administration is few weeks old, assured that Gov. Ododo is concerned about making the Greater Lokoja Water and old Water Works functional.
The old Lokoja water works the Commissioner added when operational will supply water to Karaworo and to Hausa Junction.
Speaking at the meeting, the APC Chairman, Lokoja LGA, Hon. Maikudi Bature, described the  palliative by the State Government as timely, appreciated the attention the present administration is making to make the Greater Lokoja Water and old Water Works begin operation
