Kogi Group insists Yagba Federal Constituency always vote for best candidate.
* Says Abejide is committed to democratic norms.

A group under the aegis of Yagba Good Governance Advocacy in Kogi state has on Thursday described those clamouring for zoning for Yagba Federal Constituency as political hirelings who have no place in Yagba politics.
This is just as the group acknowledged the commitment of Elder Leke Abejide- member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency , to democratic principles of popular will of the people through the ballot.
In a press conference held inside NUJ press centre Lokoja, the spokesperson of the group, Eniola Olayemi, berated those going about fanning discord in the polity to desist from their evil machinations.
Olayemi noted that no matter the evil designs by some politicians to create division, the Yagba people are politically matured to handle whatever the challenges without heating up the polity.
He wonder why some people would start to champion a cause for 2027 when, the elected representative is barely in the middle of his term, alleging those who have spent four terms in the National Assembly as brain behind the campaign.
He urged the people of Yagba to remain resolute and refuse to be divided by the sinister motive of the sponsors and executors of the agenda as some people have perfected plans to cause disunity in Yagba Federal Constituency ahead of 2027.
According to the spokesperson ” ” those who have gone to the National Assembly four times are campaigning against what they called a third-term agenda when what he told his constituents was that , the longer one stays in the National Assembly, the more influential one would be to be able to attract developments.
*Mopamuro Local Government is a respected part of Yagba Federal Constituency and will continue to be respected. It was Mopamuro Local Government that produced the first person to represent Yagba in the Green Chambers and he was supported by Yagba East and Yagba West.
“Those who are agitating for Mopamuro today were the same people that went against Henry Abimbola and Olafemi Folorunsho in 2019 and 2023 respectively. But they are agitating today for reasons best known to them.
“In 2015, the seat was contested by candidates from across the Federal Constituency. It has always been so in the spirit and letters of democracy and fairness. Mopamuro was in the race in 2019 and 2023 against Yagba East. So when did the fairness begin

“As a group, we are not in support of any particular candidate but we are supporting a democratic process. A good representative doesn’t have to come from zoning or a particular place” he clarified.
While highlighting the achievement of Leke Abejide who has consistently paid Waec fees for students and other developmental initiatives for the people, urged politicians to test their popularity through the ballot and should stop fanning the amber of disunity.
