The Runner up in the 31st August, 2024 Kogi State People’s Democratic Party Congress, Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo says all he desires is Justice, called on the National Working Committee of the PDP to ensure that justice prevails.
Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo made the appeal in a chat with Newsmen, said illegality should no longer be allowed, asked to be inaugurated.
” I’m only seeking for Justice. As at August 31st, 2024 when the State Congress was held, Enemona Anyebe was not Party to that election. This is because a court had earlier barred him from contesting in the election. Again, on 6th February, 2025, the Judgment of a Lokoja High Court was categorical. Justice Yahaya Adamu made and reaffirmed the order declaring the participation of Anyebe as null and void. Ordinarily, the declaration should have been for me to be sworn in. Maybe because the Judge felt I was not a joinder. I’m happy that at the Appeal Court, I’m now a party to the suit. Importantly, the court have successfully transmitted the record of the state high court proceedings to the Court of Appeal. Ordinarily, we are supposed to be sworn in. Remember Peter Obi was not in Court, was sworn in as validly nominated with the highest votes. There are several other instances in Nigeria where the second runner up wer sworn in after infringement by certain persons. But because of the law, he was declared and sworn in. I’m therefore calling on the NWC, Governor’s Forum, Senators and all the members of our party, to join in addressing the injustice that is being metted to me because I’m poor, I have no voice, no godfather.
“The congress of 31st August 2024 was free and fair. I was the only eligible contestant in that election. I was duly elected because as at 31st August 2024, Enemona was not a contestant as he was not qualified to be part of the election. I’m the winner of the Election. I wish to say that in the forthcoming North Central Zonal Congress of our party coming up in Jos. Nobody should be allowed to represent Kogi as PDP Chairman.
” There is a Nigerian constitution before political party had there constitution. I therefore called on the court to take notice of the brazen disregard of the judgment delivered on contempt regarding the Kogi PDP and to act swiftly on the Kogi matter. This is because when people go unpunished for their disobedience to
judgment, it emboldens them to break the law, knowing fully well that there is no penalty that will be fall them. I therefore call on the Judiciary to use the Kogi case as an example so as to serve as deterrent to others that disobedience to court judgment is the most serious offense that should not be swept under the carpet”.
