The State Working Committee of New NIgerian People’s Party NNPP in kogi state has suspended the state Auditor and Youth leader for their Untoward activities in the party.
This is just as the State Working Committee SWC has passed confidence vote on the state chairman, Honourable Abdullahi Angulu for his leadership role in building and sustaining the party across the state.
But in a sharp contrast, the suspended Auditor, Umar Muhammed Murtala had alleged that the State Executive Council SEC of the party has suspended the Chairman and Secretary for gross financial misconduct.
In a letter signed by the state Auditor and made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday he had alleged that the Chairman ,could not account for all the monies that accrued to the party and his unholy romance with the members of other political parties especially the All Progressives Congress APC as basis for their suspension.
The petitioner also alleged that the Secretary, Mallam Abubakar Suleiman works with a federal Government establishment, hence, not qualified to hold sensitive position as enshrined in the constitution of the party.
While noting that the SEC took the decision to safe the party from immense collapse urged National leader and presidential candidate, Engr. Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso and National Working Committee members to uphold the decision of the SEC to reposition the party .
However, the Chairman , Hon.Abdullahi Angulu, disclosed that his problem with them started when the National leadership had written to the State Council to caution and discipline the my Lauren Auditor and Youth leader who have constituted themselves into nuisance at the party headquarters in Abuja.
He explained that based on the memo from the headquarters to call to order the activities of the Auditor and Youth leader, he had called for a meeting , but, the duo surreptitiously collated the names and signatures of the members as attendance list.
He added that the duo took the attandence list and heeded straight to the press purporting to have the blessings of SEC to suspend me and my secretary.
The chairman who stated that the constitution of the party empowers only the SWC to suspend the chairman, said , out of the Nine members of SWT, Seven signed and passed vote of confidence on him.
According to him, ” Our party is a young party in the state trying to unstage the APC and PDP. The people are tired of the two parties and they want a change , which NNPP is poised to achieve.
” We didn’t want to begin to wash our linen in the open. We have been trying to manage their excesses . We have severally cautioned them to be decorum in their activities without harkening. Butz since , they have chosen the part of dishonour, the SWC has to apply sledge hammer to bring them to rectitude.
He explained that the said amount alleged to have been misappropriated by him , were monies for the delegates which the duo were beneficiaries.
He added that he has no record of the party renting an office, stressing that the Secretariat of the party was donated by state leader of the party and Kogi East Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Muhammed Abdullahi popularly known as Elephant.” He clarified.
He commended the National Leader, Musa Kwankwaso for his untiring efforts at giving NIgerians an option in the 2023 elections and call on all members not to be detracted by the nefarious activities of the duo but to join hands together to deliver all the candidates in the forthcoming elections.
