Few days to the off cycle governorship election in kogi state, the members and stakeholders of Ex political office holders of 21 LGAs of 2013–2016 has vowed to work assiduously to galvanise massive votes for the candidate of APC, Hon. Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The forum while endorsing the candidature of Ododo/ Joel for the election, said, the members have in earnest begun door to door and operation one man bring five campaign strategies to woo electorate for the straight win of APC in the November 11 poll.
This was the resolve of the members of the forum who came enmasse from the 21 LGAs to Lokoja on Thursday to signify their unwavering commitment to the OAU/ Joel aspirations.
Addressing the members and critical stakeholders, the chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Musa, commended Gov’ Yahaya Bello for his benevolence in heading to all the requests bordering on the payment of outstanding salaries and severance packages to members.
He noted that even though the members were inherited from his predecessor, he has made the group dearest to his administration.
He explained that immediately he assumed office in 2016, he recalled the members back to office, even when , the administration that appointed and elected them refused to honour court judgement to reinstate them.
He added that, the governor immediately approved and begun implementation of the payment of severance allowance and defrayment of outstanding salaries to members.
He said to who much is given , much is expected, urging members to redouble the efforts to curry victory for the APC and its candidate, Hon. Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He challenged members to make personal sacrifices as working for APC’ s success at the poll, are invariably working for their political career as they stand on vantage position to assume higher positions in the incoming administration.
He disclosed that from the positive feelers , he is getting from the eligible voters across the state, there will be no stumbling block to Ododo”s victory and calls for concerted efforts to log on to the moving movement of Ododo/ Joel candidature.
He applauded the governor for approving the payment of the remaining severance before the election and monthly payment of salary arrears till his administration winds down.
On his part, the Secretary of the former local Government Councils office holders, Hon. Mohammed Idris Omale thank Members for their unalloyed commitment to the forum and what it stood for , stressing that the group activities have significantly impressed the Governor as he will not hesitate to address all issues concerning the group.
He called on the constituted coordinators to swiftly move into action to persuade electorate across borders for a sweet victory for the party, saying the profits of winning the election out weighed other considerations.
Highlights of the event, was the presentation of certificates to the Coordinators and appointment of the permanent Secretary for ministry of Local Government and chieftaincy affairs, Hajia Abiba Oyiza Tijani as life patron.
