Kogi Siec Commissioner, Chief Labaran Oyigebe bags Emi Koussi University Doctorate Degree, Fellow
Chief Labaran Oyigebe Agbaka , a commissioner with kogi state Independent electoral commission, has been conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Law and Security, Honoris Causa, by the prestigious EMI Kousssi University in N’ Djamena Chad Republic and fellow of the Institute of Sustainable Development and Management Science ISDMAS Lagos, Nigeria.
While presenting the Degree and fellowship Awards to the recipient , Labaran Oyigebe on Sunday in Lokoja, kogi state, Professor Samson C. Orjiugo, Registrar and Chief Executive officer of The Institute of Sustainable Development and Management Science ISDMAS Lagos noted that the awards was in recognition of his contributions to expansion of the frontier of knowledge in customs , traditions and security of his area.
He said, Hon. Labaran Oyigebe, a one time Chairman of Omala Local Government Council and Senior Special Assistant SSA to Capt. Idris Wada Administration was selected out of numerous applications for his outstanding writings that has enriched the history, customs and tradition of his people and his commitment to doing what is right in the fight against insecurity and other life transforming endeavours.
He said his ISDMAS in Conjunction with EMI Kousi University Chad and Institut Bilingue Libre Due Togo University has been engaging in the training of Nigerians in various fields of endeavours, adding that over 10,000 NIgerians have been trained in educational sustainability.
He explained that the country is experiencing food shortages due to number of factors, and call on the people to engage in farming to boost food supply to end hunger and poverty.
He added that the primary needs of man is food and urge the governments at all levels to safeguard farmers and their farms from the activities of insurgents and banditry and Fulani herders conflict with farmers.
He hinted that , he had carried out the induction and award of Doctorate Degrees, Honoris Causa on prominent citizens in Kaduna, Kano , Rivers, Lagos and now in kogi state and appeal to the people to avail themselves of this unique opportunity.
” By this award you are now qualified to affix the word (Dr) to your name. We at the EMI Kousi University are glad to present to you this prestigious award of Doctorate Degree Honoris Causa in law and security, and We hope to continue mutual working relationship with you” he said.
Meanwhile, (Dr) Labaran Oyigebe stated that the Doctorate Degree and the fellow conferred on him have made him taller in all ramifications and commended Professor Samson Orjiugo and the management of the two institutions and pledge to work harder to sustain the ideals of the University.
In a lecture title” Dealing with the problem of insecurity for sustainable growth in Nigeria, Associate professor Nurudeen Yakubu, of the Prince Abubakar Audu- University Anyigba segmented crises associated to each of the six geopolitical zones of the country.
He said , in the North East and North West Kidnapping, Bokoharam, banditry and Fulani herders clashes have been the menace affecting food production and supply, while in the North Central , considered to be the food basket of the country was bedeviled by the murderous Fulani herders, banditry and kidnapping for ransom.
He added that in the same token, the south West was not left out of the activities of kidnappers and other ethnic agitators , even as in the South East , IPOB and ESN have become a thorn in the lives of the people with occasional kidnapping for ransom while agitating for a country of their own, and in the South South region, economic saboteurs have taken to the creeks to vandalise oil pipelines, oil theft and occasional kidnapping which causes devastation to the ecosystem of the area.
The Erudite Professor bemoaned the tragedies that have befallen the nation through elites corruption, Unemployment , anti people Government policies and international collaboration to undermine the sovereignty of the nation over her resources, saying , those elements combined to fuel insecurity across the country.
He therefore charged political leadership to ensure that insecurity is fought and defeated so also to allow farmers and indeed the citizenry to have free access to their farms and other endeavours as a panacea to food shortages and poverty that are ravaging the country.
Hon.( Dr) Labaran Olachene Oyigebe, aside being a traditional title holder, holds an HND in Public Administration from the famous Federal Polytechnic Idah,
