Notorious kidnapper, Echono vows to name high profile Gangs in Benue.
Against the spate of kidnappings across Benue state, especially Benue South, an arrested kingpin Ngbede Ekoja Echono has vowed to unmask his high profile members.
Echono popularly known as Ocheanpla, hails from APA LGC one of the Agatu and Idoma local Government Councils of the state, made the disclosure when he was arrested by security personnel recently.
According to security source, the suspect, believed to have masterminded multiple abductions and violent attacks in Obinda, Opaha, and Odugbo communities, made a chilling revelations during interrogation to expose a sprawling network of collaborators if pushed further.
“If you take me beyond here, I will expose many. I am not the only kidnapper in Obinda, Opaha, Odugbo axis,” Echono reportedly declared in the presence of security operatives.
Sources close to the case confirm that Echono’s name has loomed large in local security circles, with residents accusing him of openly engaging in arms trafficking and operating with impunity for years.
“He even took Obinda’s weapon and sold it, yet no one said anything,” lamented one concerned resident who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Security agencies have officially confirmed his arrest and say a deeper investigation is underway. Authorities have hinted that more arrests may follow as interrogations continue and more names are revealed.
Local communities have expressed a mix of relief and renewed fear, concerned that Echono’s revelations could uncover a deeply rooted network of criminal actors in the region.
This development has reignited calls for comprehensive security intervention across Benue’s border communities, particularly those prone to repeated criminal activity.
Meanwhile, residents are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as investigations intensify.
