Fear grips Kogi Polytechnic over sudden death of lecturers

Palpable fears have enveloped kogi state polytechnic community over sudden deaths of lecturers and staff within an interval of  few weeks.

The latest death in a row is the passing of Mr Anselm  Ahman Ojodomo Daniel  on Thursday while delivery lecture in the class .

His death which has dealt significant blow to friends , associates, students and members of the polytechnic community.

His death came barely a month when Dr. Barnabas Akuba died right inside the main campus in Lokoja.

According to a  source in the polytechnic , Akuba had earlier defended his PHD thesis and has finalized process of transferring his service to Federal University Lokoja, before his untimely death.

Similarly, Anselm Ahman Ojodomo  has successfully defended his PHD thesis and was making effort to move to Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba before his death

‎”His death occurred during a classroom session. The lecturer suddenly slumped while addressing the students, throwing the class into confusion and panic,” a source within the school said.

‎”He was immediately rushed to undisclosed  medical facility before he was medical attention but was later confirmed dead on arrival by the  medical personnel .

‎Sources within the institution also disclosed that there is now apprehension within the school community, as Anslem’s death was the third in six weeks since the new Rector, Prof. Salihu Sanusi, assumed office on February 11 2026

‎”Anslem was in a meeting some hours before going for the lecture. We cannot imagine that a man who was bubbling and full of life in the meeting is now dead,” a member of staff of the institution stated.

Anselm was survived by a wife,  two children, brothers and relatives

The management of the Kogi State Polytechnic had yet to issue a statement on the incident as of press time.
