Ethnic Cards and Political Panic: Whose Candidate Would He Be If APC Had Said Yes

Let us stop pretending this sudden outburst of moral purity is about principle. It is not. It is about a bitter, naked hustle for power that went sideways, and everyone watching knows it.

First, your paymaster went knocking on the doors of the APC, begging on both knees for that Senatorial ticket. They turned him away. So he ran to the PDP, desperate for a lifeline, only to find those doors slammed shut too. Out of options and out of breath, he finally settled for a political shell, a party with no structure, no weight, and no real path to victory. Now, suddenly, he is a man of the people? Give me a break!

And then come his paid keyboard warriors, flooding every feed, smearing the APC candidate and painting him as some tribal figurehead for the Ebiras. But let us run a quick thought experiment here. If your boss had actually secured that APC ticket he lusted after, whose candidate would he be right now? Would he still be crying about tribal agendas, or would he be parading around as the visionary leader Kogi needs? You cannot weaponize identity politics only when you lose the draft.

Chief Erico, is the flagbearer of a major political party, not a single tribe. We need to drop this lazy, corrosive ethnic card because it has brought us nothing but stagnation and broken promises.

You may think you’re demarketing Erico. Dey play! The irony is that in your frantic rush to tear him down, you are actually sinking your own man. These tired tactics from the SDP data boys are outdated, cheap, and simply will not sell.

Look back at our history for a second. When the Igala political leadership held sway at the state level, politicians from every corner traveled down to pay homage to our leaders. Nobody threw a fit. Nobody called it a crisis of democracy. It was just the reality of state politics at the time. But now, simply because the state leadership does not look like you or come from your backyard, you start screaming bloody murder. It is a predictable cycle. Every single election year, the same cabal tries to slice us up into tribal factions just to stay relevant. But voters are smarter now. We see the playbook.

Power belongs to God. He shapes destinies and decides who rises, no matter how many smear campaigns you launch. This brand of politics, rooted entirely in malice and character assassination, has never built a single road, equipped a single hospital, or lifted a single family out of poverty. It will take us nowhere.

So why all the panic? Why the jittery online outbursts? Go out there and run your own campaign. Leave Erico out of your desperation and focus on whatever pitch you have left for the electorate. The field is wide enough for everyone, and at the end of the day, the ballots will decide the outcome, not the noise on social media.

Chief Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico is your next Senator. You can write that down and take it straight to the bank.
