Niger Communal Crisis ; Lavun Chairman urges Gov. Bello to wade into Boku, Doko crisis.

The Chairman Lavun Local Government Council Hon Pata A Limanko has called on the Governor of Niger state Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello to quickly intervene into the Crises rocking Boku and Doko communities in the area so that peace can return.

The Chairman’s fears were expressed in a private memo sent to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello with the title: “Request For Urgent Intervention Of Niger State Government In The Communal Crisis Between The People Of Boku and Doko Communities Of Lavun Local Government Area Of Niger state”

The Council Chairman crave the indulgence of the state government to intervene by facilitating and leading the mediation between the two communities

According to the Chairman,”This will not only stress the importance that the state government placed on peaceful coexistence in the state but the intervention your Excellency will also elicit the establishment of a lasting solution to this unnecessary strife between the two communities in the LGA” he noted.

The chairman warned that if the ” clash is not quickly checked with seeming mutually agreed solution that will stem the tide it might degenerate beyond comprehension to other communities hence our request for your intervention in the matter”

The Council Chairman Pata Limanko said, law enforcement agents are trying their best to maintained law and order, to also bring the perpetrators of the crime to book adding that a lot of destructions have taken place as a result of the crisis.

He stressed that efforts were made by various stakeholders to resolve the crises did not avail,hence the need for quick state government intervention so that the dispute would be permanently resolved.

Hon.Pata Limanko then appealled to the state government to direct the state Emergency Management Agency to as matter of urgency provide relief materials to the victims of the unfortunate crises.

He mentioned that three lives were lost while property worth several millions of Naira were destroyed as a result of the crisis over farmland.

The dispute is said to have been on for over 50 years with several stakeholders trying to resolve it without success.
