Niger NSCDC Commandant threatens to probe co-operative looted Funds.

*Declares #7.161M surplus, doles out Motorcycles, Deep freezers, Televisions.

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, Haruna Bala Zurmi, has disclosed that he will do everything possible to recover all funds belonging to the NSCDC Staff Co-operative and Investment Credit Society, diverted by the previous executives.

The Commandant stated this at the Annual General Meeting AGM, of the credit society held at the Headquarters of the command in Minna,pointing out that the co-operative was established for the benefit of its members and to improve on their welfare.

He mentioned that he will not relent in his efforts to recover funds that were alledgedly diverted by the past executives of the co-operative society which were legitimately contributed by it members.

He described as worrisome for some people entrusted with public funds to divert it to their personal use without accounting for it, adding that his leadership in the command will not allow such funds to go without any trace.

Bala Zurmi commended the commitment and efforts of the current leadership of the co-operative society for their determination and zeal of moving the society to its present stage, assuring them of his support at all times.

He enjoined the executives not to be discouraged from any criticism from members, urging them to take such criticism as a way of making them to forge ahead .

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the co-operative society, Abubakar Mohammed, disclosed that the Society under his leadersship has established a store where household essential commodities were made available to all members. This, according to him has eliminated the number of cases being recorded at the command against members by civilians, for collecting food items on credit besis .

He disclosed further that the co-operative society under the current leadership within the last one year, was able to deliver a total of 100 units of 3 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms detached apartments as well as semi-detached bungalows at Pago area of Minna, in conjunction with a private developer HAFSAMAB Technical Service, and another 200 units were underway.

The chairman stated that the co-operative society had constructed a mini estate of self-contained flats which is at roofing stage, located at the new GRA Minna, without any external partnership, which will soon be completed.

A total of N7.161 million was declared as surplus at the AGM and a total of 10 motorcycles and 10 deep freezers as well as 36 inches plasma televisions were distributed to some beneficiaries.N
