IGR : New Tax Administration ‘ll prevent Revenue Leakages, Stress — KIRS.

The Acting Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service KIRS , Mallam Yusuf Abubakar has disclosed that the ongoing automation of tax administration in the state will prevent issuance of fake drivers’ licence and all other tax documents by unscrupulous elements.

The acting Executive Chairman gave the hint Thursday during an interactive session with Journalists in his office in Lokoja, state capital.

He said the measure has become necessary in view of the nefarious activities of touts and their collaborators in the various agencies connected to assessment, taxation, revenue collection and final lodgement to the state coffers.

Abubakar who decried the high level of corruption in the revenue sector said that most of the Motor vehicle Particulars being bandied by the holders are fake and urged the citizenry to key into the new policy.

While commending the banks and other financial institutions like the Insurance companies for their cooperation and understanding, the Chairman maintained that the rights of the taxed will be protected.

He assured that the policy will access, collect revenue, it will also give reports to the government on lapses and improvements.

The electronic process ,the Chairman said, will reduce traumatic experiences of the tax payers lining up to exercise their obligations to the government.

He announced that areas where banks and internet could not be assessed through banks, the ordinary POS can be ready alternative.

According to the Chairman, the business concerns both private and corporate will pay all assessed charged amounts of revenue expected of them through Banks and any nearby revenue collection agencies.

He alleged that millions of naira would have been lost due to fraudulent activities of touts and their agents collaborators who give out fake documents to motorists and other potential revenues that could have accrued to the area.

Abubakar therefore advised Kogi indigines especially in diaspora to channel their requests for services related registration of vehicles, land and business registrations to the Kogi state internal revenue service for genuine documleakage
