In his avowed commitment to projecting the performances of president Muhammadu Buhari’s APC led administration in the universal Basic Education subsector , the APC media online has promised to commence a weekly National Television Programme on UBEC/ SUBEB projects across the country.
The Team lead of FG/UBEC project Monitoring and inspection Dr.Tom Ray Ohikere gave the indication on Friday in Lokoja while on the inspection tour of the projects in Kogi state.
The Team lead who was particularly pleased with president Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to early child education with huge investment in the sector, said ,the inspection has brought to fore, that his achievements in the Basic Education sector has been grossly under reported.
Ohikere noted that contrary to insinuations by critics of the administration that the government is doing nothing in the Basic Education sector, the inspection has revealed lots of completed and ongoing projects across the states.
He explained that the Inspection team was not conceived for fault finding, but rather to authenticate the claims of UBEC and SUBEB projects execution so as to give maximum publicity to the relentless effort of president Muhammadu Buhari ‘s APC led administration.
Ohikere who was a two time commissioner in Kogi state said the team had already covered APC controlled states in North West, with the rounding off of the exercise in North Central zone in Kogi state.
He added that he was amazed with sustainable development of infrastructures in most of the schools visited across the three senatorial districts of the Kogi state, disclosing that the ICT centres in these schools are a model in modern primary school education financing in the country.
He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his massive financial outlay to a particular School in Okene , Standard Demonstration School, which according to him has become a house hold name in Nigeria for winning National awards , pocketing 14 out of 17 awards for grab, making it the best primary school in Northern Nigeria.
He added that the school not just only won these awards , it has also consistently done the state proud in competitions organised by National Mathematics Centre in conjunction with Nigeria -Tulip International, hinting that over 48 pupils of the school are on scholarship in highly rated post primary schools across the country and abroad.
He assured the state that ,with the physical inspection of the schools and resultant milestones and other significant development he has seen, the use of the APC’s unadvertised performances to judge the party would be a thing of the last.
According to him” In Kogi state we saw massive construction and reconstruction of infrastructures, the quality and quantity of the job done deserves huge commendation. We are convinced beyond any doubt that Kogi is on the track of repositioning Basic Education in the state. A lot has been done but a little more has to be done to sustain the achievements.
“All Federal Government direct intervention projects in state are 100% completed, however, we appeal for a parcel of land for the construction of Model Smart pre- primary, primary; junior secondary and Ultra Model ICT complex which will be handed over to the state on completion even as UBEC would continue to provide necessary support to sustain prescribed standard.”He solicited.
