International Civil Defence Day 2022;  Mafara calls for inclusive Training for Volunteers of emergencies.

As the 61 member Nations of Civil Defence Organisations ICDO celebrate this year anniversary with pomp and funfair, the kogi state commandant of the corps, Suleiman Mafara, has advocated for the Sustainable training of volunteers to enhance their professionalism in handling  various forms of emergencies.
The commandant noted that the volunteers who are often the first to attend to emergencies, should be properly trained to minimise casualty arising from ignorance in handling the situation.
Commandant Mafara gave the advice during the  commemoration ceremony of this year International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) Day  held  on Tuesday in Lokoja.
He commended the Civil Defence Organisations across the world for their resilience and commitment to serving humanity during the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic and other emergencies that crops up in the past year.
He urge all the actors in the civil defence chain to use this occasion to redouble their effort  in management of crisis while saluting their gallantry in fighting crimes and criminality in their domains.
He applauded the Commandant-General of the Corps Dr. Abdullahi Ahmed  Audi for his  support and encouragement to officers and men which has gave credence to the public rating of the corps.
He opined  that  volunteers should  be recognised as an essential member of the emergency management, hence , training for them, which should inculcate both national, sectoral and specific response plans , would  enhance  their professionalism.
” It is a fact that people around the emergency are the first to intervene, hence, knowledge of how to handle the situation will reduce the risks associated with emergencies”.
Meanwhile, the commandant who actively  participated in the route match, Seminar, Parade and a display by the Agro Rangers officers,  used the occasion to sensitise the public on the mandate of NSCDC.
He , therefore charged the men of the command to always work in synergy with other security agencies in order to effectively curb the menace of crimes and criminality in the state.
