Palpable fear has enveloped senatorial aspirants from kogi central when Natasha Akpoti and her mammoth crowd of supporters stormed Idris Nana Hotels in Lokoja , the venue for PDP screening exercise held on Wednesday.
The arrival of the maverick politician at the venue with her intimidating supporters, and retinue of security details, aspirants from the Central senatorial District, who were hitherto in a frenzy mood stylishly disappeared into the thin air.
Natasha with her vociferous supporters literally stole the show as party members , aides to the aspirants and indeed members of the screening exercise stood in admiration to catch the glimpse of the amazon, set to revolutionalise Senatorial representation in kogi central.
Songs in traditional rythmical cacophony rents the air as passers-by ,onlookers who were mostly, lay guys and women joined in the artistic display of the latest dance styles in town to herald her presence.
Our correspondent reports that at the time of filling the piece, those aspirants including one time senator could not be sighted to take their turn of the screening, suggesting that they may have honourably back down for her.
Speaking to Journalists after the exercise, Akpoti commended the screening officials and the PDP leadership for the orderly conduct of the screening.
She maintain that she has high hope and confidence in the exercise to produce candidates that will fly the flag of the party to victory at the general elections.
The kogi central an inch away from victory disclosed that her defection from SDP to PDP was a tactical move to ride on more established and rooted platform combine with her popularity to curly home victory at the general election.
She urged the party hierarchy to examine aspirants on the basis of their antecedents of capacity, performance, credibility and popularity with the electorate before choosing the flag bearers.
The former senatorial candidate challenged the other aspirants to come to equity with their records of touching the lives of their people either in political offices or in their private lives , stressing that her record of given back to the society is conspicuous to even the blind and the deaf.
She however, promise the people of central and indeed the whole kogi that if elected she will work assiduously to literally bring the national budget to her constituency.
” If i’ m elected , as you know, the business in the senate is all about moving positive motions, bills that will have impact on our people through lobbying . I can assure you that my covenant with my constituency to upgrade their lives from what it is at the moment remain sacrosanct.
” I’m so passionate about women, widows and orphans and im going to the senate as their mouthpiece. I therefore called on the party to ensure that more women of substance are elected to the National Assembly for a parradym shift.
While thanking the party for the opportunity to be screened enjoined all members to join hands with the eventual winners , so as to wrestle power from the APC for the liberation and emancipation of the people.
