*Commences state wide consultations, meets kinsmen, Groups, PDP in Omala.
As the 2023 general elections inches closer , a foremost aspirant on the platform of PDP Dr. Reuben Atabo SAN has assured the people of his capacity and capabilities to revamp, reverse and reset governance deficit in Kogi state.
Dr. Atabo made the declaration on Monday at Abejukolo, headquarters of Omala Local Government Council of kogi state when he held consultations with his family members, his PDP ward Exco at Okpotala his homestead, and Omala Local Government PDP Executive Council Members.
He similarly held discussions with the Onu Ife and the paramount ruler of Omala Area Traditional Council HRH Boniface Musa, Ife Development Association IDA, women and men groups and other critical stakeholders in the area.
Dr. Atabo while giving details of his aspiration at the palace of Ojogba in Abejukolo, said he was pained by the growing insecurity, poverty; deprivation, infrastructure deficit and general hopelessness across the state due to indefinite focus of the present Administration to the people.
He noted that all the while he was committed to the practice of law and concern to giving back to his Communities the blessings of God on him, but however realised that he could do more for the people with public office.
According to him , he has not thought of politics, but lately, there is growing pressures from well meaning citizens for him to take a shot at politics.
He added that the more the rejection, the more the pressures , stressing that he has to cave in to the popular demand, being the reason for the consultation with critical stakeholders starting from his home.
While recounting the political trajectory of Omala, he disclosed that Ife which was a District in Ankpa LGC in the old Benue state had produced a Deputy Governor, Alhaji Sule Iyaji and in Kogi state, Omala again produced Ex- Governor Ibrahim Idris at the time at a when kogi was under a tyrannical rule.
He noted that now that the state is bedeviled with ineptitude and lack of focus leadership, Omala son is being pressured to come and rescue the state, saying there is something divinely special with Omala.
The Governorship aspirant explained that based on the conviction of the people that they want a change , he has come home for the people to send him to deliver their message in the forthcoming kogi state gubernatorial Election
He said , he was worried with poor living conditions of the citizenry as many could not meet their basic necessities of lives, even civil servants were reduced to percentage salaries, while some could not be paid for several months due to draconian staff screening exercise.
He decried infrastructural deficit and lack of continuity, leading to abandonment of projects donning nooks and crannies of the state.
He said as a private person, unlike some others who would invest in the cities for quick returns on investment, he decided to localise his businesses in his village Okpotala to transform their social and economic lives.
He promised to do more for communities across the state , hence, calling on the people to send him on errand to Government House as he has capacity and capabilities to change the ugly narratives facing the state .
Responding, the Onu Ife HRH, Boniface Musa, Commended him for his courage and confidence to deliver the state from the shackles of underdevelopment, saying he is sure of his ability to bring fresh air for the citizenry.
While charging him to consult widely with critical stakeholders across the state, enjoined all sons and daughters of Omala to give him their maximum support to accomplish this task.
Speaking for Ife Development Association IDA, the National President, Dr. Aaron Omaye, assured him of the commitment of the Organisation to his cause , the cause he tagged collective aspiration for a better Omala, Igala Kingdom and the entire kogi state.
He called on the people of the state to support this clarion mission as poverty, insecurity and deprivation have no tribe and religion, hence, let there be collective commitment to the realisation of his mandate.
Meanwhile, at the Local Government Secretariat of the PDP in Abejukolo, headquarters of Omala LGA, Dr. Reuben Atabo SAN urge the party Excos to send him on errand for the 2023 kogi state Governorship election.
He said with his antecedents in the Bar reaching the pinnacle of the profession as Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN , he possessed necessary wherewithal to reset , rejig and revamp the ailing kogi state economy.
He call on the party to consider his journey as theirs and work assiduously for the success as everyone will be the winner at the end of the poll in his favour.
In a remark, the Omala Local Government PDP chairman , Momoh A. Mohammed said , he was convinced that Omala will produce the next Governor come 2024.
He charged members of the party to launch operation “people tell others” of the collective aspirations of Omala to be manifested in Dr. Reuben Atabo.
He prophesied that Omala will laugh age , hence, all hands must be on deck to ensure that Omala emerge victorious in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
He assured that Omala Delegates will vote enmass for Dr. Atabo and also ensure that majority of delegates from across the state vote for him so as to bring succour to the suffering masses of kogi.
