Deplorable roads: Gov’Bello  begins palliative works on Ganaja road in Lokoja.

Owing to public outcry over the impassable portions of Ganaja Junction to Ganaja village road in the outskirts of Lokoja, the Kogi state Government has commenced filling the gullies on the road  with  heavy stones to ameliorate the suffering of the road users.
However, the palliative measure has created heavy traffic gridlock  as motorists have to  meander through the heavy stones dropped on the road without being compressed by heavy duty equipment.
Earlier, the kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing Hon. Samson Bako  assured the public of  the readiness of the Kogi State Government to give urgent palliative attention to the deplorable parts of the Ganaja road,
However, some trapped motorists who spoke to Treasure times commended the government for coming to their aid, saying, although, the gesture is coming too late, but said,  it is better late than never.
Speaking further, they chorused that, filling the bad portions with heavy stones, without compression will be counter productive for the road users, as it could damage their vehicles.
While commending the government for the job, urge Gov Bello and president Ahmed Bola Tinubu to ensure that those contractors who abandoned the job after being mobilised should be  brought back to sight.
Bako gave this assurance on Monday  while receiving in courtesy the Executives of the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Ganaja Branch in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
The Association in their request asked the State Government to come to their aid in rehabilitating the badly affected parts of the Ganaja Road, stressing that if urgent attention is not taken, vehicles would not be able to ply the road in the next one month.
Responding, Bako noted that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello CON has directed his office to deploy Kogi State Road Management Agency (KOGROMA) for immediate palliative work on this Federal Road.
He also remarked that the effort of the Gov. Bello in infrastructural development has proven him a centre of reference adding that the palliative work on the road as requested would become a thing of history.
