Defection: Concern professionals for Good Governance hails Gov. Mbah.
A group, Concern Professionals for Good Governance has described the decision of the Enugu state governor , Peter Mbah to defect from PDP to APC as a collective good for the people of the state.
The coordinator of the group Okechukwu Nwafor in a statement made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Lokoja, noted that Mbah’ s meteoric transformation of the state needs connection to the mainstream politics in order to advance the best course for the state
Nwafor added that , the vantage position of Enugu state in the geopolitics of the South East does not require an onlooker, but , a personality that can align the state with mainstream politics to serve the best interest of his people, saying Mbah’ has demonstrated his avowed commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of his people no matter whose ox is gored.
Recall that governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State had on October 14, 2025 announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) , marking a major shift in the state’s political landscape.
According to Governor Mbah, the decision to defect was made after long reflection and consultation with his team. He emphasized that the move was necessary to advance the state’s interests and align with the APC’s vision for development and progress.
“This is no whimsical decision. It’s a collective move by the political family in Enugu State, comprising members of the National Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, all the Local Government Chairmen and Councillors, all political appointees, and over 80% of Party Executives,” Mbah said.
The governor highlighted the progress made in Enugu State under his leadership, including the completion of smart green schools, primary healthcare centers, and roads. He also noted that the state’s internally generated revenue had increased by 600%.
Mbah assured the people of Enugu State that the defection would not affect the ongoing projects and that his administration would continue to prioritize service delivery and development.
