Against the misgivings from the fall out of the recent interview, the House of Representatives member representing Ankpa Olamaboro Omala, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Alih Halims has disclosed that he has a long time bond with the people of Omala insisting that Omala Local Government Area has been very dear to his heart.
While reeling out his scorecards in the green Chamber of the national Assembly, the Deputy Majority leader noted that he has sincerely and honestly served the people’s interests, genuinely rendered legislative interventions at a critical time in the lives of the people of Omala.
To buttress his kind heartedness for the people, Halims disclosed that while he was far away in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for Umrah pilgrimage in May 2024 when the news of the most catastrophic herders-farmer clash cum invasion struck Agojeju, Bagaji-odo, Ibado-akpacha and some part of Bagana claiming numerous lives and properties, he moved swiftly by I ordering an advance motion to be prepared for his arrival to present it on the floor of the House.
He said he made three very important prayers: that a state of emergency be declared, NEMA be ordered to provide relief materials and that a Military FOB be established without any delay.
According to him, “to actualise these prayers, I personally traveled to the IDPs camp in Omala in a tripartite event that marked condolences to Omala LGA, Traditional Council and the deceased families. Thereafter, I established communication with the Director General of NEMA and later visited the Honourable Minister of Defense to ensure speedy establishment of a Military Forward Operational Base(FOB) which we have at Bagana today.
“Omala is a dear Local Government to me because I have a long standing history with many Leaders and communities from the area. To start with, as far back as 2011 and 2015 when I was “aspiring” for House of Rep — Omala was a secure catchment area and despite not succeeding in these two outings, I have never taken those years of solidarity for granted.
“Before I could finalise on my choice of Aide for Ankpa and Olamaboro LGAs in 2019, my Aide from Omala Local Government was already documented and that was a clear indication of the kind of reverence I have for Omala. Lest I digress, this is just to refresh our memories in order to undo the sudden public misinformation by enthusiasts who are trying to take advantage of the characteristic fellowship of Omala people to trade an emotional blackmail.
“In addition to the above facts evidenced with pictures attached herewith, I made an instant cash donation of 2Million naira during my visit to the IDPs, I have to my credit a retinue of physical infrastructure and notable legislative endeavours that has a direct bearing on the socioeconomic development of Omala Local Government Area. My idea of politics is service and together, we shall achieve more. Nothing will distract us from staying in form and as we match towards SEASON 3, keep chanting “OYOYO” for greater Joy is coming.”He explained.
He declared that while it is okay to aspire for positions, it it is incumbent not to malign others, even as it the Rights of individual to support any candidate, it is not right to misinform and to peddle falsehood and unsubstantiated reports in order to tarnish the image of opponents.
While soliciting the continue support of the people of Omala, he insisted that his achievements in the two terms surppased to those of his predecessor.
He advised the people to exhibit love and lend hand of fellowship to one another during this electioneering period as election would come and go but we will still remain as brothers and sisters.
