Former political appointees under ex-Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, have commended the state government for what they described as significant strides in education, welfare and political reconciliation.
The group, led by the Public Relations and Publicity Secretary of its forum, Hon. Dr. Alfa Ebune, alongside its Chairman, Hon. Bako Sigaba and Secretary, Hon. Bola Omoniwa, also passed a vote of confidence in the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The former appointees particularly applauded the governor’s reported commitment to supporting students through scholarship and bursary payments, saying the intervention would ease the financial burden on thousands of families and help improve access to education.
They also commended the governor for settling outstanding financial obligations owed to former local government appointees and councillors, 2016-2023 describing the move as one capable of improving the welfare of beneficiaries.
The group further welcomed the appointment of former governor Idris Wada as Chairman of the APC Reconciliation Committee, pledging their full support for his mandate.
According to Ebune, the former Wada administration appointees have confidence in Wada’s experience and ability to help advance reconciliation within the party.
“Through him, we are giving all our needed support to His Excellency the Governor because of all his transformative ideas and concepts,” Ebune said.
The group, however, appealed to Governor Ododo to extend the ongoing welfare considerations to former political appointees (state) who served under Wada by addressing their outstanding salaries, allowances and other entitlements.
Ebune said settling the outstanding obligations would help alleviate the hardship faced by the former appointees and further strengthen their support for the administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He added that members of the forum remained committed to mobilising support for the governor and the APC, while expressing optimism that the administration would continue to deliver on its programmes.
