The Kogi State House of Assembly has passed into law the Bill for a Law to Provide for Free Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare Services for Pregnant Women and Newborn Children in State-Owned Health Facilities in Kogi State and for Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2025.
The landmark legislation was sponsored by Hon. Umar Yahaya (Connect), Member Representing Omala State Constituency, Kogi State House of Assembly.
The passage followed a clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill at the Committee of the Whole, marking a significant step toward improving access to affordable and quality maternal and newborn healthcare across the state.
The legislation is aimed at reducing financial barriers to essential healthcare for pregnant women and newborns, while strengthening maternal and neonatal health outcomes in Kogi State.
